Whatever you say about the Pacers, David West is underrated

Post#1 » by thinktellectual » Tue May 27, 2014 9:50 pm

... as a whining bitch.

All that tough guy act on the surface, but you can see he played for years with Chris Paul.
Always whining, moaning, crying and bitching.

He's supposedly one of the leaders of the Pacers, so no wonder they are a whiny bunch full of bad excuses.
What's the next excuse ?
I forgot where I put my made FGs ? The dog ate my game plan ?

I'd say he's underrated, period. His comeback from his ACL tear after being a 20-9 guy in his prime is something to applaud. He's still a very effective player on a disciplined team and is one of the major reasons the Pacers can even challenge this HEAT team. He's about 6'9 but built like a bull. He singlehandedly saved Indiana's season twice against Atlanta and then Washington. Atlanta had the series wrapped up with moments left in Game 6 before West turned on the jets and carried Roy Hibbert's carcass into Game 7. He has my respect for sure.

He can ball, for sure.
But (and he already went through this once while in NO), he was underrated and then everybody became so aware of how underrated he was that he actually became overrated.

He's a good role player, you might win the title with him as the 3rd best player on the team.
But if he's your best player (as it seems to be the case now for the Pacers) or 2nd best (as he was in NO), your odds of winning are quite low, and if he's a leader, he's the wrong type of leader IMO.

Many say that the reason Indiana turned to **** was because they traded Granger away. If true, that would say A LOT, both about the Pacers and about West. Because I think Granger was a punk and didn't seem to me the kind of veteran leader you need, and if West can't even supplant that, well, then he's useless on a team beyond the stats. And I thought the selling point of veterans was not necessarily their production, but also their savvy, their experience, calming influence over the younger players etc.

In not so many words, **** West. He's a punk, and I think he's part of the reason the Pacers are a whiny bunch. People blame Hibbert, PG, Lance, but I think West should take some of that blame, too, for their **** attitude.

Lets be honest hes a beast and you have to like the way he plays the game. He goes hard and plays very physical. He definitely has an intimidation factor against a lot of younger players. That said, him blaming the officials is embarrassing because I always thought of him as the leader of the team. His technical yesterday was great. Pure frustration. One thing forsure though:

Forgot he tore his ACL

He plays very well, not gonna lie

Lol it's true he does whine a lot but eh... I don't care

But as a player he a great veteran. He always gives us fits no matter who is on him.

He's actually a really good player. Every time he scores I'm like wow that was a nice move, how did he do that? I'll find myself saying it like 4 times in the game and then remember that he was an All-star with CP3 averaging like 18-20ppg at one point. His jumper is annoyingly automatic as well.

That said, dude is the biggest whiner in the league. Always has that stupid "what did I do" face on that makes me want to punch him at times. Way to big to be strutting like a baby when something doesn't go his way.

The whiny btch azz face he makes when called for a foul pisses me off.

But let's be honest.. He's a gun and I honestly think he is the pacers MVP.

He tries to bull his way through everyone on offense. He's pretty much as physical as can be on either end, then flips out if he's called for a foul or if someone gives it back to him. It's crazy.

His propensity to knock down difficult shots is annoying as all hell though. Whatever, **** him and the rest of those *******s.

He's a really good player.

But yeah, he's annoying as hell. He pushes off constantly and plays extremely physical basketball, then whines and throws his hands in the air if he doesn't get touch fouls.

The Pacers in general are extremely unlikable. Hibbert, George, Stephenson, West... all unbearable in their own ways.

that play alone where he was complaining about a foul because he shot an air ball, shows his true self.

If West stops bitching he would be a better player but he is a dominant undersized big man who has a nice mid range and could dominate inside

With every game i have watched Indiana play this year, i always am impressed by West. Pacers get into a shooting funk, West will work the post and drop one. Pacers need a bailout, West will hit the open 13 footer over and over again.

He does bitch about every single good/bad foul that he is called for, but i think I am totally desensitized to that after watching dWade for years lol.

If i had to pick one player from Indiana to take, it would be West. He can ball.

I agree. Miami actually tried to sign him back in 2011 when he was a free agent after he tore his ACL. He obviously took more money and went to Indiana.

If he had signed with Boston instead of Indy, which almost happened, the Celtics would probably have beaten the Heat in 2012. Rondo, Allen, Pierce, West and KG would have been really hard to beat.

Maybe, but the funny part about it is all the whining Celtics fans did. First it was "we have the original Big 3!!" Then it was "only losers have to team up with other superstars, ours didn't join until later!!" As though it was planned. Truth is any team will sign as many stars as they can.

I will say that West probably made a mistake signing with Indy. Heat or Celtics would of probably netted him at least one ring by now.

Considering David West is what Jared Sullinger would HOPE to be in his best season, that would have been terrifying. Both him and Brandon Bass trading blows with Miami's front line gives me chills.
