2015 Free Agency Class

Post#1 » by LeChosen One » Sun Jun 29, 2014 1:55 am

Was just looking at some names (unrestricted free agents).. Gerald Green, Louis Williams, Monta Ellis, Nate Robinson, all of those guys would be great for us especially off the bench

But the one name that stands out is, Marc Gasol.. That can be the missing piece right there (Al Jefferson is also available).. So do you guys think the front office is looking at this next free agency class? Maybe get something temporary for this year but wait to make a splash next year?

Personally I always thought this year would be difficult, that's why I was hoping to win 3/4 so that it would be 'tolerable' if **** hit the fan this year :banghead:

Maybe it's too early to dissect it in a lot of detail but nothing wrong with trying to just stay ahead of the curve... Just to look at this project in more of a long-term picture

I totally understand but you don't know what will happen this free agency that could impact next free agency

They are going into this season without any way to get cap space next year. I think Gasol would have been magic with this group but everyone they sign this year is going to demand more than a one yr guarantee

If you're supposed to be an unrestricted free-agent in 2015, there's nothing that can change that though right? None of those players I listed have an early termination option or anything like that.. Gasol makes 13 mill now, he will be 30 and in ring chasing mode I bet..

To me, unrestricted free agent = godfather Riley dropping some rings on table :D

We won't have any cap space next year (or the 3 years after that).

This summer is like 2010, the big 3 are taking a paycut to create space, next year their salaries go up, add the rookies we've got, and whoever we'll add this summer to the payroll.

Nexts year's free agency class might be better, but the timing is now. Next year we'll add a MLE guy and Minimum Vets only.

Ha, if the other Gasol was in the class I'm sure the Heat would have been more than happy to make room for solely him and be content with Napier at the PG instead of Lowry + potentially Hill/Okafor.

When you're a perennial championship contender you can't plan to free up cap space for the following summer. You do what's best for this season.

Thinking about it, the Lakers might do everything they can to keep Pau with Kobe, especially if Kobe doesn't want him coming here. We need to also pursue Andray Blatche and Hawes. Blatche is the one most in our price range.
