That's simply too much for Wade. IMO Riley needs to talk him down to a first year number of ~ $12 mil, or his time here is going to come to an ugly end. And Riley needs to drop a contract starting at $18 mil in front of Lebron and dare him to find a better situation for himself. The Western Conference is simply a knife fight, Cleveland isn't championship ready and has a significant state tax and a moron for an owner, and Chicago ... if he thinks Wade has knee problems and misses too many games, he's going to LOVE Derrick Rose.
This is the exact opposite of what Riley should or will do. Like he said himself in the press conference, you don't ask these guys to take paycuts, you are happy to pay them what they originally signed for and if they come to you and offer it, then you talk. They can tinker at the edges but playing hardball and engaging in tough negotiating tactics is a sure-fire way to burn bridges, destroy trust, and push Lebron (and Wade and Bosh) right into the arms of a suitor who would happily poach one of them.
