Fans also love and instinctively overvalue name recognition & past achievements, making them a year or two too late on catching up the reality about a once great player being and how he is a shell of his former self.
19/5/5 on 55 percent shooting in 32 minutes a game. If Wade's name was Klay Thompson people would be freaking out.
3rd option. Never guarded by the opponent's best perimeter defender, because that defender was on Lebron instead. He sat out tons of games and had more rest/recovery time, so when he did play he'd be nice and fresh unlike his opponents and teammates.
And so on and so forth.
2nd option*
So him sitting out more games and that *recovery time* aka maintenance program was used for the post-season or else he wouldn't a problem playing the games at all. It was a smart strategy to lock him up for the playoffs since we all knew Mia never cared for the reg.
If he actually played 90% of the reg season games, his stats would be higher, no doubt it. So your points are pretty much invalid in comparison to Klay.
Wade has already proven to be a great defender, I doubt he needs a comparison from a guy named Klay.[/quote]
Wait a minute, let me make sure i have this straight. Wade had "no problem playing the games at all", meaning he had no need for rest because he was ready and able, but was forced to anyway. I wonder why they chose that strategy with him though but no one else, since he "had no problem at all" with playing every game like every one else.
On top of that, you're saying if he had LESS rest last year between games and played more of the games, he would have had BETTER stats than he did playing 54 games.
And by virtue of his past, Wade still carries the "great defender" title right now? I guess Kobe's a great defender too because once upon a time like 8 years ago he was great at it and that status follows you forever.
Pat Riley would himself tell you Klay is better on offense and defense right now. And that it would be a wise basketball decision to trade Wade for him straight up if GS was ever crazy enough to offer. BTW I'm not saying he would make the trade, despite knowing it's the right move, because we know that he's committed to making sure Wade retires a Heat. I'm just saying he would not pass a lie detector test if he claimed Wade is better than Klay right now.
