Yet he's less effective so it's a moot point. Whiteside is not just more athletic, he has a MUCH larger wing span. Whiteside's is 7'7" J. Ham's is 7' 1.5". Whiteside's standing reach is 9'5" J. Ham's is 9' 1.25". The difference is their wingspan alone is staggering and thats really Whiteside's most impressive tool/skill his amazing length. Being more fundamentally sound doesn't matter, results matter. Whiteside would slaughter J. Ham if they ever matched up against one another.
Whiteside clearly has more natural skills like height and athletic ability and that is what this team needed in a big way. Also what Whiteside has is truly hard to find in some his size but that does not change the fact that if you just look at what can be taught about basketball, J hamilton has more of that. Whiteside does not read the pick and roll as well as J ham and is occasionally see with hamilton. Whiteside is occasionally able to recover from this due to his athletic ability but against good team it is more of a problem. This doesn't mean he can't be great, shaq also sucked on the pick and roll. Whiteside is learning quickly but at this time J hamilton knows more basketball than Whiteside. Just go and read what spo said about Hamilton and what the Timber wolves coaches are saying now. Hamilton doesn't have the natural ability to be a star, like Whiteside, in this league but he can be a very good role player like a Shane battier. Also in a one and one my money is on Hamilton at this point. He can score in two many ways and whiteside can't right now.
