Then again, how would one threaten Winslow? Make less than 10 points in a game and I'll bench you?

Been seeing these Hassan screen comments for awhile now. The focus is misguided here, it's the ballhandler's job to wait for the pick. Pay close attention next game, when Hassan goes to set a pick and the ball handler starts his his penetration he immediately abandons the pick like he should. I've noticed that the majority of the time that Dragic calls for Hassan to come up top, it's simply to pull the opposing Big out of the paint so he can put his head down and drive full speed ahead. Hassan picking up cheap moving fouls does no one any good. I'm not certain that I've ever seen a Heat player attempt to set as many screens as Hassan does each possession.

Oh, man... Wade use to stop whole plays to yell at Whiteside about his screens. Bosh would get on him about it too

Go back to the time Amar'e was starting for Whiteside and read the quotes from all the players

Never recalled any Bosh/ Whiteside screen interactions. Wade yelling about some random screens last year means nothing. I recall Whiteside being upset and yelling at Spo when he got called for a moving screen for an impatient Wade,Dragic, or Winslow. Of course a players like Willie Reed or Amare can go out there for 13 minutes and gamble with the refs with their moving screens, their foul trouble means nothing, Hassan doesn't have that luxury. Want a solid screen, then stay put. Half the time the ballhandler doesn't even want a solid screen, it's morso just to move Hassan and the opposing big out of the paint.

Yup, here's an article from last year about this very topic with Wade and Bosh talking about Hassan's need to set a better screen
Nothing has endeared Stoudemire to the guards more than his screen setting, which has been a deficiency for Whiteside. Many of the plays are predicated on Wade and Goran Dragic getting into the paint off screens or exploiting defenders on pick-and-rolls. Wade and Whiteside were unstoppable earlier in the season and could get back to that game if Whiteside tightens up the initial action.

“I’ve always been on Hassan about his screen setting, especially when it comes to me,” Wade said. “It gets me where I want to get, it gets our team the shots they need to get and it gets him easy opportunities. I’m always on him about getting there and going in hard because it makes the defense have to make a decision.

“But Amar’e has been in the playoffs and been in the league. Hassan hasn’t been there yet, so he has to continue to learn it.”

One of the most prominent faults in Whiteside’s screens is that they are sometimes half-hearted. Stoudemire’s are the opposite. He squares up all 245 pounds into a pick, ensuring enough disruption for the guard to get past him.

“He needs to put his body on them,” Bosh said of Whiteside’s screens in comparison to Stoudemire. “We want him to go over and get that last crack on them. He was doing better before he got hurt. Now we need him to be more consistent and keep going from there.”
