nobody ever really said he's a terrible coach, but a lot of us said he's not elite.

Considering how we looked to start the season, I wouldn't say he's a COY candidate or secured himself in that elite class.

to me He's a hard worker smart guy with some questionable in-game instincts, I really want to see him overachieve in the playoffs so I could put him up there with the elite coaches.

Thousands of fans said he was a terrible coach. You must have selective memory. Pages and pages of fire Spo posts multiple times. Hate towards anyone who defended him.

Not the case anymore. He has been our best asset this year.

He's done a great job, can't hate.

Ditto with Spo great job with guys I never or rarely seen to play. I know U want to climb as high as possible to avoid Cavs but this 1st round match up would be interesting to watch.

Playing the Cavs will be fun to watch, we'll at least make them work for their wins. We won't be just a step over like their past opponents. I think the past first round teams they played were initially intimidated. This won't be the case in Miami, because we have James Johnson and he'll beat up anyone in the league. :D

NO!

Sorry, I made an appreciation thread because for whatever reason, this thread didn't appear the first time I refreshed.

That said, COY is a goddamn curse. I'd rather he continue to be appreciated by his peers and the random fan like me, rather than let the league recognize him and doom his career. I feel like Pop and Phil are the only legit survivors of that award.

Respect homie. You always kept it real. One of the few guys on this forum not burying Spo.

From our own D-League: Okaro White, Rodney McGruder, Tyler Johnson
From Scouting in other D-League + our summer league: Willie Reed, Hassan Whiteside
Scrap heaps: Dion Waiters, Luke Babbitt, James Johnson, Wayne Elllington
Undrafted vet: Udonis Haslem
Late draft pick: Josh Richardson

That is basically our team + Dragic. Who is also having a career year

Bosh, Mcroberts and Winslow are the other three but all out for the season.

Our scouting department needs just as much praise as Spo imo (unless these guys aren't good and Spo is getting these results out of them in spite of that)

Buying Sioux Falls was the best decision Riley ever made. Yeah, those Shaq and Big3 deals were awesome, but they were short-term moves. SF is a long-term move. Years from now, when the NCAA is marginalized and the NBDL becomes the defacto farm league, we're gonna view that as one of the most forward-thinking moves in franchise history. We're not just building credibility as a player development hotspot in the bigs, but we're also building one of the most consistent minor teams as well. We should be ahead of the curve when the shift comes.

they are showing a track record of doing this, getting Spo parts he can use. Spo has put some people in position to be successful the last few years. Several players have had better years in MIA then what they had the year after the left or the years before they came here.

Return to Miami Heat
