JJ or Dion

We could free up a total of roughly $44 million ... and a player like Gordon Hayward or Blake Griffin would consume ~ $30 million of that, so we'd likely lose 2 out of 3 from that group of (JJ, Waiters, and Reed).

We can use MLE on Reed

Another issue is that Waiters and JJ would have to sit around waiting while we woo Hayward or Griffin ... and while other teams flash money at them. If we pursue a so called "whale", it's possible that we lose all 3 of them AND don't land a whale.

IMO the best option is to pick the guy we want to keep most (IMO JJ) decide what we're willing to pay him, and sign him ASAP, and then worry about chasing "whales".

If he doesn't get a better offer. IMO Reed won't be that expensive, but then I didn't think Tyler would get anywhere near $50 mil so ...

I wouldn't think so either ... or even that much ... but like I said, I've been wrong before.

Seems like there's a center surplus around the league right now. That could help

Not of quality centers, but back-ups there is. Slower, taller 4s who have range are being given a new lease on the league with the movement towards stretch 5s.

Miami in 2nd place in projected cap space:

Second only to Philly which means we are the biggest player this offseason.

Let's cook this offseason

The whispering eye reports of Hayward being interested in Miami elevated by BP my one millimeter of Mercury. That little fantasy would be a nice start.

Not happening. Griffin will be available, though

I was reading something ira went, and he speculated that winslows value has been diminished by jj. How? What makes people think that a healthy Winslow would not have become a superior player to this jj as the season went on? Maybe his jumper would not have been as effective as jj' is now, but I think he'd be better in every other area. I think if we do keep jj, he stays on the bench and starts at the 4 sometimes. winlows gotta be our starting 3 next year.

Moving on from winslows via trade to clear the way for jj would be ridiculous.

Winslow is obviously bad at shooting, but he's also bad at finishing layups...he needs a lot of time to develop on that end and his torn labrum is going to keep that from happening for at least a year and a half now. If getting rid of Winslow means we can get Hayward (doubtful), then that's the move you make and keep the veteran in jj.

Now if Ira is simply stating to move Winslow for jj, then that doesn't make sense. One can start and the other can come off the bench, as you said.
