Bosh is a funny dude; he's spot-on for that role, and he isn't a "mean bully type" of humor, either
Because Shaq's tired-ass act is just that.
well, yeah, I wasn't going to say it, though - Shaq somewhat has a pass with me since he and Wade won it all in 2006
and I like your avatar ~
Thanks, Kyphi. Represent.
He had a pass with me too, until he burned bridges YET AGAIN on his way out. Dissing Chris Quinn was the last straw for me. That was when I began to notice a pattern with him. Then I read his autobiography a few years later. Not an ounce of accountability in that book. Nothing that happened was ever his fault.
This was arguably his shining moment on the set in my opinion, which is telling.
Anyways, He always blamed others and fabricated nonsense to keep his reputation squeaky clean. He always has to win, always has to be right, and doesn't care if he has to denigrate someone in order to do it.
This was the same dude that was supposedly the "bigger man" in the Shaq-Kobe feud, yet never seemed to stop bringing that nonsense up every chance he got, later chalking it up to "marketing" so no one hated him for it.
But Kobe, nearly a decade his junior, came out as the "adult" in hindsight.
His act got tired once he tried going after a legend in Pat Riley; once he did that, legends from the past stepped up and essentially called foul on Shaq's rebuke. Orlando was in its infancy and had no foundation; the Laker team that Shaq left was in a shambles and unlike the 80s dynasty. Then he rubbed people the wrong way in Phoenix. How do you antagonize Steve Nash of all people? They end up missing the playoffs the season after the Spurs end them in five.
Then he goes to Cleveland and does nothing to push them over the top. He tries his luck in Boston and by then, years of waiting until the very last minute to get into decent basketball takes its toll on his 350 lb body, and his career ends when a sniper takes him out.
But it doesn't stop there. Shaq continues to seek out a target because, after all, bullies are nothing without the bullied. He goes after Chris Bosh (unprovoked), then immediately tries to deflect...
...then goes after Dwight Howard due to his insecurities over the "Superman" moniker, placing unreasonable expectations (he needs to average 28-15 or else he sucks, even though Shaq NEVER averaged those numbers once in the NBA).
- His excuse for this was pathetic.
- Dwight NEVER came into came out of shape, but whatever.
...the pettiness is sad. Brook Lopez, who is basically a seven foot small forward, was better than Dwight Howard in this man's opinion. It never seemed to end. It never did. The JaVale McGee thing was funny for a certain amount of time, especially since the dude DOES commit bone-headed plays (under his own power), but that too is tired, especially now that he's threatening players.
Just once I'd like someone to shut Shaq up with actual facts. Make him blubber. But if that happens, he'll probably retreat into his little "I have more rings than you" shell of insecurity.
- Listen to Shaq. Gives you absolutely nothing. Might as well have had a broom in that chair. Who knows, maybe I'm being unreasonable.
I'm so over this dude, folks. He's just a glorified bully. Doesn't contribute all that much to the panel, his Shaqtin segment is just a repackaged blooper reel, and he's only there for name-related ratings. Chris Webber does a MUCH better job on the panel next to those guys than Shaq does. Shaq just mutters nonsense and they enable it. Great sense of humor too.
Even when C-Webb gets hyped up, it's for a good reason, and it complements the panel.
Oh, and C-Webb can also give advice on post play, since that's where he cooked guys for 15 years. Give me C-Webb over Shaq any day. I'm ready. Send Shaq on the road or something. Please, TNT. Anything. Just move him out of that studio. He does nothing for me.
