I reread it and see that, so I I'll just say I disagree then. Apparently the claim from the Wade-first contingent has shifted from Riley not being loyal (emotional) enough to now being too emotional.

Riley was completely (some would say coldly) unemotional in his decision to let Wade walk, how is that not obvious? He gave him a fair deal for 2016, and was ready to ink him to another fair deal for 2017 until Wade's price exceeded his value to the team. Riley negotiated with Wade and ultimately passed on Wade like Riley would with any other player, as if Wade was just another player; that's what Wade-first fans were so upset about in the first place.

The comic irony here is that the same exact thing happed to Pat. Replace the names Pat and Wade with Lebron and Pat and one can’t help but laugh at the irony. Lebron treated Pat as an expendable person who had out lived his shelf life, perspective.

With all that said we are who we are and now it’s time to see how far a team led by Dragic/Waiters can go in the playoffs.

Honest question, do you hate this team? In all your time here I've never once seen a positive post from you whether we were winning championships or in the lottery. I mean it's cool either way, every fanbase could use an eeyore to balance out the homers, but it just feels so negative sometimes.

Im a Heat fan but man sometimes we do things that just dont make sense. A perfect example is Spo, Spo is our guy so we want him to succeed right, did we hire the best staff money could buy to help our young coach? Then look at the Warriors, they had Kerr as their guy and well they hired the best assistant coaches to make sure he succeeds. Stuff like that. We preach about all we need is capspace how we will land Whales, the God father the Don etc then try to spin an off season with Waiter resigning as a success? We are a second round team if everything falls into place but with no real room for growth or capspace and lets not forget TJ and his 18 mil contract around the corner. I dont see the upside to this team but its a new season and ideally we should make the playoffs in the east.

It could be that Spo has the coaches he needs and doesn't want anyone else that may clash with his coaching. Or he could be understaffed. There's not really much evidence pointing either way that I know of. Do you have further info on that?

As for stating the team doesn't have much room for growth, I agree that the current roster does have a ceiling. With that said, the Heat turned a roster that looked like there wasn't much on it last season into some quality "chips" and a competitive team. This year's squad will likely be even more competitive. Such chips can and likely will be used in trades at a future date, especially once marquee players realize the Heat are a go to destination again (if they haven't realize it already).

2. Is anyone else capable of carrying the team?

If the answer to #2 is no, then the choice was treadmilling with Wade or treadmilling without him.

Personally I still see a playoff team that was unnecessarily blown up. And I see an all time great who was mistreated.

For all the hoopla over Gordon Heyward, he wasn't carrying this group to a title, so what was the point of not taking care of Wade?

Pat got caught up in his mean girls routine, and some fans became obsessed with Kobe's contract. Frankly I see no evidence that Kobe's contract hurt the Lakers at all.

And this is all it comes down to. As usual, Riley first fans are just twisting whatever the outcomes ends up being into "genius moves" by Pat, even when they know initially the turnout wasn't what he was going for, or even what they want, at all. They will call others Wade first fans, oblivious to the fact that everyone can see they are projecting. Hard.

I feel strange that some fans claim we are the fans to the TEAM, not to a single player like Wade. However, if you are a true fan to the Heat, you should not treat Pat Riley like god either. Riley is also only part of the team, and will leave the heat one day, just like Wade.

there is a big difference between wade and riley.

wade is making the best decision for himself, just like every player should. and pat is making decisions he thinks are best for the MIAMI HEAT. thats how i see it at least.

pat has small ownership too i think, like 10%, so he is a lot more than just part of the team.

Yes, people retire and grow old, but the Heat from 1995 until now, has Riley's brand. Wade brought Miami fans 3 three championships with that style and brand. And I gotta admit that I wouldn't mind having him back except I'm not in either one's head.
No disparaging remarks from me about either one.

Pat has been here for over 20 something years now, name one player that has played here that long? Pat is the one that pulls the strings. He is the puppeteer, & the players are his puppets.

Once Pat retires, all of you will regret it. We will be an average franchise. Just like when Billy Cunningham, & Lewis Schaffel, ran the HEAT.

There's a thread on the Bulls sub-forum, something to the effect of "I don't understand all of the hate for Wade". The op is miula, a Heat fan. Anyway, the posts from salty Bulls fans concerning Wade are good for a laugh. Bulls fans are funny, and mostly delusional.

I hope he gets bought out and goes to the warriors or if they don't want him then Houston. Would be cool for him to get 2-3 more rings then retire.

This isn't an either or thread for Wade and Riley.

This is a respect for Wade thread.

(I also repsect Riley).
