I agree that will be the selling point to come to Miami. Adding his veteran friends along with our veterans. The reason it is important that we made the playoffs is to make our players young or old, playoff battle tested. Something the Lakers do not have on their roster. Their players are young, inexperience and very immature. If Pat was to lure LeBron, IMO the game plan would be moving Dion, JJ and TJ and possibly Whiteside, replacing them with veterans LeBron is familiar with; , Joe Johnson, Wade and possibly DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard to replace Whiteside and even possibly Deng.

PG: Goran Dragic
SG: Josh Richardson
SF: (buyout)
PF: Lebron James
C: Hassan Whiteside or DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard

Bench: Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Justise Winslow, Rodney McGruder, Bam Adebayo, Kelly Olynyk, Derrick Jones Jr, possibly Luol Deng (buyout)

Like it or not, this would be the plan put out IMO.

If gets bought out, then the only hitch in that plan is how Bron gets to Miami. Otherwise, that’s actually a decent team and has a good mix of vets and youth. Pretty sure that Cavs would want more than Dion/TJ/JJ - they’d want some of Winslow/Bam/Rich. We could offer picks (Riley’s favourite candy to fling to the kiddies) - but it would have to be 2019 unprotected & 2023 with only limited protection (due to the 7-year rule it would need to be unprotected by 2025 & then we can’t trade any picks for 2 years).

I would expect that TJ/JJ/Whiteside would be moved, and some of the kids with them.

Lebron will be a Laker or a Rocket. Outside chances for Philly and Boston because unlike us they actually have pieces to attract him.

Get comfy, because imo it’s gonna take a few more years to undo all the damage Riley has done after Lebrons departure.

Yup.

Foolish to think we ever had a chance at lebron. The hell is he going to do with this crappy roster and no assets to move these horrible contracts? Cle, hou, or la.

I dont know why it seems LA is the frontrunner but I still feel he will indeed be a Laker (meh)

Ive learned from chasing KD and Hayward that no matter how solid our chances are it still wont be enough

Bron will consider us for sure but idk, I just dont see it. I would love to but i just dont see it

Honestly it’s only a possibility if Bron drives the process (the way CP did last year). If he/Paul brokers the trade, then it will be conditional to other trades/signings that will have also been brokered, or pre-arranged. We’d almost certainly have (likely after buy-out unless OKC fronts on that and then he has to be traded for) & Howard being brought in, and likely having Ellington returned (using bird rights) to be one of the shooters Bron needs around him.

Honestly, when you look at the Clippers-Rockets deal, then I would expect the 2019 pick and one of our youngsters going out, with either a matching salary set, or us taking on a chunk of salary to help their cap number: say Bron/TT for Whiteside/JJ/Winslow/2019 1st - IMO that’s comparable to what the Clippers got last year, and saves the Cavs almost $9.5m.

Assuming comes in via buy-out then we’re staring at a line-up near the start of FA that looks like:
Dragic/TJ
Rich/Wade/Ellington/Dion/McGruder
Bron/DJJ
/KO/UD
Howard/Bam/TT

There’s a tonne of movable parts & a lot of movable salary; solidifying the forward rotation would priority #1, and then possibly the PG spot if Dragic is part of the pieces moved to do that. TJ/Dion/Bam is $30m worth of salary that could get a low-level star, add in Dragic and you have the salary to cover two stars - if they are part of the strong-arming. Tax would be hell, but we’d be able to put together a team that would be better than his current Cavs roster for opening day.

It’s definitely doable, if Bron wants Miami and is willing to use his clout to get things moving. It’s extremely unlikely, but not impossible.

Don't want him here. Not hyped at all about anyone unless we snag Kawhi. Expecting us to do nothing which, if we're honest, was basically the plan for the next few years once they signed everyone last year.

If Lebron or anyone else does come here I'd be disappointed if we traded our future 1st for them unless there were assurances of a long term deal. Don't really care about any individual player on our team enough to not want them traded in a package. They're all available if you ask me.

While I don't want him to return....8 years ago it was a sure thing that he would sign with the Knicks or Bulls.
4 years ago most people thought it he would return to Miami, after all, why would he leave a Finals bound team to go back to play for Gilbert?

Well this year it seems the Lakers are the sure thing. Lets see how it plays out.

Plus Miami didn't have the money to sign 3 stars.

I don't post very much at all anymore. But living in socal I hear all of the Lebron talk all day. I can't stop but think, man we got the guy when he was 25 years old for 4 years. Crazy that we're 8 years later and all the hype is still there. Really speaks to what Lebron is still capable of doing on the basketball court and at the same time makes me appreciate what we had.
