Bam's offensive game is raw. You can see the possibilities but it is going to take some work. We might not see a finished product offensively until he is 24 or 25. HIs job at this point is to work on how he can put his stamp on the game. His defense, rebounding, offensive boards, steals, pushing the ball, slashing, PnP, get to the line, etc.. if he can consistently do those, he'll get consistent PT. The shooting and post game will come with time.

Just like with Whiteside, offense is not natural to Bam. It took Whiteside until he was 26 before he started developing some form of offensive game and he is just OK at it right now IMO.

110 NOP, 84 MIA
94 CHO, 90 MIA
90 UTA, 98 MIA

Not a very good start in terms of winning, though we have found a prospect in Duncan Robinson. Let's look at the stats so far:

Image

If we lose versus New Orleans today like before, we play the loser of New York and Boston on Friday, but, if we win, we go forward.

Here is the rest of our potential schedule:

55: New orleans (thu 7/12 1:00)
if lose: 63 loser of new york or boston (fri 7/13, 1:30) (win or lose it’s over)

if win: 73: new york (ranked #11 in east) or boston (ranked #2 in east) (sat, 7/14, 3:30), we continue if we win
78: (Portland, Indiana, Atlanta) (sun, 7/15, 5:00), we continue if we win
81: (winner of 56 phi/pho, 57 mem/okc, 58 sas/mil, 60 uta/orl) (mon, 7/16, 7:30), we continue if we win
82: final (winner of game 80: 59 (LAC/WAS/LAL), 48 (CHI/DAL), 50 (DET/MIN), 47 (SAC/CLE), 49 (BRK/HOU), 52 (TOR/DEN), 53 (GSW/CHO)) (Tue, 7/17, 7 pm), we win the tournament if we win

We did not perform very well in Vegas, going 1-2 so far. That sorts us with the Pelicans in game 55.

So, basically, if we win game 55, 73, 78, 81, & 82, we are the champions.

If we lose game 55 (vs pelicans), we play game 63 to see exactly how bad we are.

If we win game 55, we continue as long as we win.

I think the Heat win by getting out of summer league with no more injuries. They signed the players they liked.

Look like the Heat has asked Robinson to not be aggressive and let others shine. He is doing very little movement.

These summer leaguers are so young and inconsistent. there are no guarantees they can play well against the varsity team for any consistent time.

After winning versus the Pelicans, we get Boston on Saturday in game 73. Our players get to rest/practice on Friday.

game 73: boston (ranked #2 in east) (sat, 7/14, 3:30)
if we win, game 78: (Portland) (sun, 7/15, 5:00)
if we win, game 81: (winner of phi/okc vs 58 mke/uta) (mon, 7/16, 7:30)
if we win, game 82: final (winner of game 80: winner of LAL/CHI vs DET/CLE vs winner of TOR/CHO) (Tue, 7/17, 7 pm), we win the tournament if we win

I dont get our summer league team. Everyone else is playing their best players including last years picks and out end of bench guys have to try to win a game all gassed while we sit our prospects like they are allstars. We still need them to participate and show more imo summer league or not.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

They had to be careful with injuries. Bam was only put their to experiment. DJJ and Robinson were the two who needed minutes, both got hurt. Robinson tweaked his ankle at the end of his last game. Once they signed DJJ and Robinson, the Heat roster was full. It's only fair to let the other guys be able to showcase their talent for a job elsewhere. And those guys fighting for a job, are dangerous to play with. I'm glad they pulled Bam and Duncan before a serious injury.

I really don’t care about winning in summer league.

As for what I do care about... I think it’s down to Vaughn and Maten for the second 2 way spot. I’d probably go with Maten.

I like Yante a lot. Seems to me like it could be great to have him sit next to UD for the next 365 Days.

According to CBS (on my phone and couldn’t get link) we offered contracts to Yante Maten and Daryl Macon. The deals will get them into camp and will guarantee them 50k whether they make the team or not.

I was impressed with Macon's play throughout the summer.

Not a fan of Yahoo, but they wrote a nice article about the grind of Summer League and what these guys go through from the perspecive of a few hopefuls:

Chris Mannix wrote:For every Ayton, there are half a dozen Cooleys. There’s Justin Harper, with the New York Knicks. Casper Ware, with the Portland Trail Blazers. Brady Heslip with the Memphis Grizzlies. There are no paychecks for playing in Summer League. There’s per diem, around $100 per day. There’s a hotel room, two-hour practices, daily bus rides and no guarantee of playing time.
