- Whiteside looked healthy and engaged. This is how he needs to play more regularly. We weren't going for post-ups, he got his points off well timed cuts, put-backs, and even dat trey. Remains to be seen how Spo goes when Bam is playing too though. Good first impression.
- Robinson. Kid can shoot it. Looks like Spo has given him the Golden Cok green light and he's gonna let it fly. If we do end up making a trade to de-clutter that guard rotation, could see D-Rob getting some burn. Spo would love this dude.
- Dragic. Looked in mid-season form. Hopefully he got plenty of rest this summer and comes in fresh to start the year.
- McGruder. Defense on DeRozan was really good for majority of the game. Again, if the guard rotation gets de-cluttered, he'll get opportunities.
The Bad
- Olynyk. 1/10 and 4 turnovers in 24 minutes. He'll be fine, just rusty. With JJ out we got a look at him at the 4 alongside Whiteside. Get the feeling Spo will go with DJJ at the 4 to start the season if JJ ain't ready.
- Winslow. Look he wasn't bad, probably a little harsh to my boy. Was just hoping to see a few of the things we know he worked on this summer. Finishing was a little weak today. Didn't get to see a lot of Point Winslow, but he did bring the ball up and initiate the offense a little.
- Jones Jr. Got in foul trouble early and never really got into it. Tough matchup against LMA first up.
All in all, we didn't learn a lot out of this one.
I think this is going to be the case for the preseason until miami makes a trade. Or maybe not "until", but "if" (thanks opie)
Pretty much Chalms. By and large, we know what we have (or haven't) got with this group. Really, the only things interesting this season are the development of Rich, Winnie and Bam / Wade's retirement tour / Whiteside's hopeful resurgence.
Without a deal, can't see us improving on that 44 wins or a first round exit.
