I say we start the alienating process now by telling him we are committing to Bam and KO as our starting front court for the ROS. If he does not like it he'll have every opportunity to opt out and find a starting job elsewhere. Lets see if this organization has the balls to do the right thing and start fast tracking the future. No possible way we stretch him out. Most likely we will be trying to deal him in the offseason for a team interested in a big expiring contract.
Whiteside would have to be insane as well as stupid to opt out. But it's worth a shot.
Of course he would be stupid but sometimes pride and ego gets the best of some people. Let's see if we can force the issue and if not we can try and find a trade in the offseason if he opts in. Could probably look at a deal with the Hornets for a similar contract and a player who will ruffle less feathers in Biyombo just to get him off the roster.
