6'11 wingspan, so no - and where is this that he is a good defender? Have we seen enough of that?

Not hating, just asking. Someone show me numbers to make me like Romeo.

I feel like all the people that like Romeo/KPJ like them "just because, swag"

87th percentile in finishing In the half court.

41% of his possessions are from pick & rolls, isolations and handoffs.

Ranked 5th in the Big Ten in Pick & Roll scoring (4.5 ppg)
Ranked 5th in the Big Ten in Isolation scoring (1.4 ppg)

93rd percentile in points per isolations possessions.

He’s a shot creator who can hit mid-range shots of the dribble and finish at the rim at a high rate. Ball Handler/Playmaker as well.

If I have him a 2K archetype it would probably be Playmaking Shot Creator.

Spacely. Thank you so much. I want an intelligent basketball conversation so bad.

I get all this, watching Romeo I agree that he is a bucket getter. He would definitely have +Josh Rich production level early in his career.

My question is to the defense comment though. To me (in the eye test) he looked lazy and checked out a lot defensively. Went for wrap around steals or let his man get by him to get a block from behind. A lot of "cool guy" type defense. Are there any defensive numbers out there to prove me wrong?

“93rd percentile in points per isolations possessions”

Shows he has good feet on the court, and he actually defended on ball well during his year there in Indiana.

Plus he’s 6’6 with a 6’11 wingspan so the defensive potential is there.

He probably needs to work on Fighting through screens and defensive awareness though, I feel those will come with time of being in the NBA.

To me defense is so much of a mindset that his "points per isolation" mean nothing because comparing offense to defense footwork is like comparing a WR to a DB. Different mechanics. However I do see what you're saying about his footwork.

The potential is there for sure. I just have a few guys that I'd strongly prefer

That is a defensive stat though? That’s when players decide to isolate against Romeo and he doesn’t allow them to score. 93rd percentile is actually pretty elite on that aspect of an on ball defender. His other areas need work on defense probably like defensive awareness, help defense and off ball defense but he’s already a good on ball defender so the potential is actually there.

oh oh oh oh gotcha. I thought it was when he has the ball and is in an isolation offensively.

He wasn't a good defender this year, but showed potential and has great tools

There's plenty of good reasons/numbers to like Romeo, you'd have to be going out of your way to prove that there isn't

couldn't respond with a reason to like Romeo. Just lol. That's what I mean

You obviously have filtered vision and are unable to read or comprehend any of the reasons to like Romeo. I've posted MANY reasons throughout these threads that you have been perusing. Spacely just posted more of these reasons. You're desperation and despair with regards to your blind hate for Langford has me actually cracking up. That's why I posted the "LOL"

Sort of a fluff piece, but remarkable to think that a 6'8 big with a 6'8 wingspan that is about 210 lbs and 23 yo will likely be considered for a top 6 pick- Although I don't think any able body in the Phoenix FO has the powder in their nutsack to even conceive this pick- maravilloso

I wonder who is at the workout with Romeo Langford. I remember they use to do 3 on 3 workouts. Today's powerful agents might not let them do that.

Return to Miami Heat
