Okay, so RIP to the 2020-2021 season, because barring any injuries, the Nets are coming out of the East. We should have made anyone not named Jimmy and Bam available, and pulled the trigger for Harden, but we didn't - and what's done is done.
So, now I think what we need to do is the following :
- Trade Goran Dragic. He's 34 now. Got injured in Game 1 of a Finals and cost us a competitive series. He's also clogging up our rotation right now. Yes, he's still a good player, but it's time to move on and start developing Nunn to take over at PG. Maybe the Mavericks can send us a big man to help us rebound in exchange. The Mavs could be sold on a "Big 3" of Dragic, Doncic, Porzingis. But whatever the case, trade Dragic and try to get the rebounding that we need from any team out there willing to trade.
- Make Kendrick Nunn our starting PG. 25 years old, shows flashes of brilliance. I think this kid could be good. It's time to stop handcuffing him and giving him limited minutes in an awkward role. I really believe in this kid and his untapped potential. I would hate to see us continue to stifle his development with low minutes and then watch him go to another team and become a starting rotation guy in this league.
- Then trade for Bradley Beal.
If we do all of this, I think that would be our best bet vs the Nets, given what's left on the market.

Re: My idea for roster, post-Harden trade.
Dragic retires as a Miami Heat player IMO. I don't think he has as much value for teams around the league as he does for us, plus Spo loves him. I don't think he's going anywhere .. especially after all the billboards and signs in Slovenia talking about family.
That said, I don't mind Nunn taking over as PG, but that would mean either DRob or Herro moving to the bench. As long as the minutes are the same/similar, I think Herro as a scorer coming off the bench has some appeal since I think we do need Robinson's 3s at the start.
I don't think Beal is attainable unless he pulls a Harden. Even then I think it will be tough for us to swing something. More attainable would be getting Oladipo at the deadline for a rehabbed Nunn & KellyO. Not sure if that will be enough as the Rockets might insist on some pick compensation as well.

Nets top 3 is Uber talented. But thats a lot of egos to keep happy. I think it’ll take a year to gel just as it did in our big 3 era.
Beal isn’t available for any realistic package (basically would need to include Bam), and anyway if he were available Philly would outbid us. Simmons is a top 20 player, maxey is nearly as good as Herro, and they have most of their picks. So it’s probably good that he isn’t available yet.
Nunn is no more a PG than Herro.

I think the Mavs would send us someone. I know you might not like the idea, but we could get James Johnson back in a trade with the Mavs. His large contract expires this summer. He already fits our culture and we know what we get from him.

Yes you are right about lots of egos to keep happy.
But I disagree they need a year. The Heatles should have won Year #1 if not for Lebron disappearing act in the Finals. I still suspect he dogged it on purpose because Wade was gonna win FMVP if we won, and Lebron didnt wanna be a sidekick. Thats my explanation as to how JJ Barea was able to guard and outplay Lebron James.
I think Durant is the mature experienced guy out of their group and will be the mentor for Harden. He can play off-ball and won't mind Harden's ball usage. Kyrie is not a stranger to a big 3 either, being as he was on the Kyrie-James-Love team.
I think they will be fine.

Bam is untouchable, and so is Jimmy. But I'd trade the other guys for Beal. Beal-Jimmy-Bam would be a very good big 3. And I think Nunn has untapped potential if he were to be made a starter.

I urge every one of you reading this - find someone in this life that believes in you as much as OP blindly believes in Kendrick Nunn.

In the past 3 games, around the time since I made this thread, here are Nunn's stats with his increased playing time.
vs Pistons, played 34 mins, 18 points, 5 rebs, 3 assts, 2 steals, 1 block, on 8-15 FG% shooting.
vs Raptors, played 35 mins, 28 pts, 8 rebs, 5 assts, 1 steal, on 9-12 FG% shooting, with 4-6 from 3pt.
vs Raptors, played 39 mins, 22 pts, 4 rebs, 5 assts, 3 steals, on 8-16 FG% shooting.
?????
The kid is a starter in this league if you let him develop. Are you not seeing it??!
He is scoring buckets at a higher than 50% FG clip. He's an efficient scorer, with active hands on defense!
Let him develop as a full time starter! Trade Dragic already.

Or better yet, find someone in life who believes in you as much as this board blindly believes in KZ Okpala.

If I had a dime for every "I hope Spoelstra plays KZ" or "Spoelstra better give Okpala minutes" comment, Bezos would have to look up to find me on the Forbes list.
I hope this Brooklyn game has finally opened your eyes, Kendrick Nunn haters! Nunn >>>>> The player formally known as The Beard.
On a more serious note, Kendrick Nunn is not going to develop into a star, but he is absoutely a legit NBA player and potentially a full-time starter in this league. It's hard to say what the future holds for him because there is absolutely a height bias in the league, but plenty of ~6-6'1 guys have played and exceled in this league, like Kemba Walker, Lou Williams, Terry Rozier, Fred Van Vleet, Trae Young, Nick Van Exel, Patty Mills, Donovan Mitchell, Devonte' Graham, Derrick Rose, Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Chris Paul...etc
