KZ really had himself a game. Maybe Center is a thing for him. He does help alot on switches but big burly centers will take advantage of his frail frame and exploit down low. We don’t want KZ or Tucker trying to stop Vucevic next game. He’ll trounce us both offensively and on boards. KZ does give Spo options though now against smaller backup bigs atleast defensively. Tucker puts him in good spots so they need to be on the floor together.

I think Herro is evolving just fine and why mess great thing up? Do you want anything then get you some work it's his defense or body strength but he's only a kid give it timeoreon wrote:somerandomdude wrote:Damn, just saw Herro's statline.
He's gotta have a bounce back game after this. He's learning what it's like for defenses to key in on him and he's gotta start taking care of the ball better. He was doing good making plays, though, even though is assists don't show it.
His lack of handles are his weakness. Next summer, that's pretty much all he should work. If he can't be trusted to be a ball handler for long strectches then there's no way he's going to make that leap into allstar
I'm proud of you Herro! Keep it up...

I have no issues with Herro. He’s a fantastic young player who does a lot more good then bad. He’s a natural two guard that we overuse as a ball handler and that’s fine until we get more upgrades. One thing is certain though is something has to give between Duncan and Herro cause they can’t be on the floor together. Same thing as last year. They are an extreme liability on defense together and they don’t work unless they are hitting every shot that they take. Problem now is if you bench Duncan for let’s say Strus then that puts Duncan on the bench with Herro. I say we just start Herro and allow Martin to assume a scoring role like he did last night off the bench with Strus.

I agree he is developing nicely but last night I saw him mentally struggle with terrible on court decisions. Sometimes it's not physical, it's mental with a player. He needs to continue to find his spots and not try to play like he is DWade. He's not that type of player.
Herro should look at Curry (although Herro doesn't have his handles), late career Ray Allen even.

Man what I would give to get a Heat/Lakers rematch in the finals… PJ is built to put LeBron in absolute hell.
Unfortunately even if we get healthy and make it to the promise land I don’t see this Lakers squad having that kind of juice anymore.

Herro will be even better when we get a veteran PG with him off the bench imo.

To some extent its mental. I think when his jumper isn't falling and he starts making the turnover he becomes passive. In the 3rd and 4th quarter he was barely involved in the offense. But to me all his issues start with his handles. If his jumper isn't falling he needs to navigate more to the midrange to get his spots or try more to the rim. But against good defensive teams he gets himself into trouble. He either can't go past his man, or panics and makes a dumb turnover or he picks his dribble way too early.
And I don't think his a movement shooter like Duncan or Curry that can come off screens constantly. For him to be successful he needs the ball in his hands some kinda like Booker. Booker plays offball but when he gets the ball most of the time its a straight catch and shoot. He dribbles a bit and tries to get a better shot.
Long story short, Herro needs to fix his handles to be a perennial allstar. It's not a criticism of him, its just something he has to do. Otherwise he will be limited.
Same with Bam, a lot of his struggles are not mental. He just has a limited offensive bag. Bam either is rolling to the rim or trying that midrange jumper. He needs to add more to his bag. He should add that PJ Tucker floater that PJ does all the time. He should also add the AD turnaround hook. Also add a 3 pointer. I don't know what his coaches are telling him in the offseason. But each offseason he should have 1 or 2 new moves his going to work on. Sorry on the Bam rant but its frustrating to see him with the same offensive bag as last 2 seasons. Bam by this stage should have a consistent jump hook.

Excellent post. I cannot disagree with any of your points. That's why I would trade Bam, I know it's an unpopular move and people think I'm nuts but I think Sabonis and Turner could upgrade the frontcourt considerably while we still have Butler, Tucker and Lowry (short term). Yes Indiana would get the better player and that usually wins a trade but these 2 cats could make Spo's offense work wonders.
I'd also do Herro for Lillard if that were even attainable but it wouldnt be because Herro has such a small salary. It's not like I'm trying to pick on Bam here.

2 years ago I 100% agree Bish, Bron was waay too smart and skilled. Good at everything but FT’s really.
Now tho? Post ankle and groin stuff? It’s a different Bron and would be a different result just imo

My issue with Reid is he just bombards you with stats incessantly throughout the game, like:
"Miami basketball with 3:30 left in our opening quarter with Miami up by 7. Here comes Jimmy Butler who is playing in his 10th game of the season for Miami. Duncan for 3...kaboom! Robinson with his 3rd triple of the night and his 97th of the season. Miami's lead is now up to 10 with 3:15 to go. John, Miami is 5-1 in games where they lead by double digits after the first quarter. Back come the Grizzlies who have started the season off 10-4 and have won 3 of their last 5 in the midst of a 7 game road trip. Here is Morant who is averaging 22 points per game on the season and could make his 1st all-star appearance this year. Block inside by Bam! Oh that's his 2nd block of the night and 17th of the season. It's also the 4th time he has had multiple blocks in the same quarter. The Grizzlies inbound with 2:52 to go in the 1st quarter. John, this Grizzlies team has only score 17 points in the first quarter, but they are averaging close to 25 points per game in the 1st quarters of games. There's a miss by Bane, the 2nd year man drafted 30th overall by the Celtics. Rebound falls to Tucker, his 3rd of the game. He hits up ahead to Herro who lays it in the basket for his first bucket of the night on 4 tries. The Heat are up by 12 the largest lead of the night with under 2 minutes to go..."
That was fantastic, if he actually said that. You can't fault a guy for knowing what he's talking about. You also don't want dead air. I think he is great. Should stay until he retires.

You should try listening to Jason Jackson on the radio, he is unlistenable. I can't understand what is going on in the game ever when I am listening to him.
Best play by play in the league easily is Al Mcoy of the PHX Suns. I can visualize the game when I listen to him.
