That was a pretty smart play by Wiliams, he kept his arms down and was able to lock up Herro without looking like he was trying to. The BIGGEST issue was Herro's angle on defense where he couldn't and didn't see who was coming to set a pick and was easily locked up instead of being able to get his hands outside of William's arms which were basically straight down. But God forbid that Yurtz contests a made 3, then Spo has laser sharp vision and unleashes hell on an unsuspecting clipboardSpoiler:
^ Also more proof that Spo hates Yurtseven (as if you needed any more)
Thank you for posting this, Yurtseven was completely out of position and during that video PJ Tucker is telling "GO" and pointed to the corer for Yurtseven to go out to that position since Tucker was going to watching/guarding the guy under the basket. Yurtseven was just suppose to be further out for the defense to work, not to run from the lane and "try" to contest a shot, he screwed up on the spacing which the team's defense depends on. It's why I keep saying he's not ready yet, skillful yes, ready no. Make him LEARN how to play strategically or you're going to stunt his growth as an NBA player.
In fact, ONE SECOND LATER after Tucker points to the corner and says go Yurtseven follows the offensive player and gets CLOSER to Tucker, further from the offensive 3pt threat and his angle he's standing is to guard the guy under the basket (check out his feet in both pictures) and is out of position to really contest the 3(which he really doesn't). GS decoyed Yurtseven and it got them an open look from 3pt range.
Spot on. The small things that we don't usually see. And in a defensive system like ours where everyone needs to play on a string, these kind of mistakes can be demoralizing. But, I think these are skills that can be taught though, and hopefully next year with a little more seasoning Yurt is able to react without having to be told.
