My thoughts about Game 2 and how to win the series

Post#1 » by Grumpy Heat Fan » Fri May 20, 2022 3:09 am

We lost game 2 because the Celtics got open 3pt shots and hit them, that's where that giant lead came from. 12-19 from 3pt in the 1st half. What a joke. After that, it's easy to play when you're up 25.

What we need to do is STOP OVERPLAYING THE DRIVES on defense. Boston is making the pass to open shooters and for some damn reason, we keep leaving people wide open for 3's. How many times I gotta watch Bam or someone panic that their guy is open and then dive at them with their hand in the air when it's too late.

Simply put, force boston to drive and earn their 2pts in the paint. Their roleplayers are not so skilled enough that they can just drive and score at will. So Tatum and Smart or something will have to carry a bigger tougher load. And driving all game is tiresome. So go ahead, go work for your 2pts at a time. We can do that too with Jimmy anyway.

BUT DO NOT LEAVE 3pt OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STOP OVERPLAYING DEFENSIVE DRIVES.

As for our offense, we have too many passive mofos trying to pass the ball. Tucker doesnt even attempt to look if he's open, he just gets the ball and immediately is looking to pass the ball within the play. You gotta be able to adjust and break the play if you are open dude. Tucker was open a lot tonight and he just wont even realize he is open cause hes looking around for someone to pass to.

And this goes for Bam too. TF wrong with the man.

Herro needs to drive. This dude cannot play defense but at least he can score around the rim. Just drive, and only kick out if they collapse on him. We can get some open 3s this way, and if not, herro driving is a good shot to help Jimmy out

Thats the problem is that is usually our defense scheme and it usually works with "intensity" we give up the most 3s for a reason and it wont change. If we played harder there will be better closeouts and those shots would be a lot harder. Spo isn't going to adjust and just say they need to close out harder.

And on the other side its literally just make your 3s and we will have a better chance to win.

Tatum will get Bam and company to foul out before the 3rd quarter in Boston.

The Celtics are good-not-great at inside scoring.

Tatum is elite at driving.
Rob is elite on lobs.
Jaylen for a few minutes per game is elite at those pullups into spins.

That's where the eliteness ends. But there's also a lot of competence beyond that.

Grumpys solution to winning game 3:

Sign Kendrick Nunn = guaranteed dub

So as long as the Celtics are missing a star player or two and Butler gets almost 20 free throws we can win.
