Haven’t been paying as much attention as usual to this draft class for some reason.

Of the guys I saw posted above, Jalen Smith and Saddiq Bey interested me the most. Smith would be a nice stretch big to play alongside Bam, Bey looked strong with a nice stroke. The word ‘positionless’ was mentioned a few times about him in the video above, which would’ve turned Spo on.

May as well look at Kentucky guys or other SEC teams though. That’s what we like, apparently.

Sorry if I mentioned this before, but how about this trade?

MIA: 2020 FRP + Kelly Olynyk
POR: Trevor Ariza (non-guaranteed)

Gets cheap cap space in case we want to compete for a signing in summer 2020. As I mentioned before, there is an opportunity to scrape Anthony Davis from the Lakers. He would beast the Eastern Conference and form a frontcourt with Bam Adebayo that could take us right to the finals.

Jalen Smith would be a great fit pick. We need a shot-blocker on this team.

Drafting a center seems a mistake to me, but Jalen Smith is a good player, with a decent 3 point shot too. We can buy into the second round though and pick up Kansas's Udoka Azubuike. He's a one-dimensional player but very imposing: 7 feet tall. 7-7 wingspan. 274 lbs. He's slated to go late in the second round, so buying his pick wouldn't cost much $$$.

A better idea perhaps is to reinforce the forward positions:

Trade our FRP for (for example) the two Philadelphia SRP at 34 & 35. (Hawks & Knicks SRP)

Draft:

Killian Tillie (SF/PF, Senior, Gonzaga, 22 yo, 7'0" wingspan?)
Jordan Nwora (SG/SF, Freshman, Duke, 19 yo, 6'7.5" height, 220 lb, 6'10.5" wingspan)

Both are average to good defenders and perimeter threats. Tillie has a good post game.

Maybe we can add Harry Giles in the off-season instead of drafting. He's still young.

There's almost no way I'd trade our 22nd-24th pick for 2 2nd rounders. Nwora is a FRP and a sub-par defender to me while Tillie might be an awful defender at the NBA level.

At 22-24, you're potentially drafting Saddiq Bey who I consider to be the BPA, Patrick Williams and Isaiah Joe.

I think Tillie is better than that, but I do see your point.

Bam and Smith would be like Sabonis and Turner. Drafting Smith would solve multiple problems at once. More interior defense and a Meyers Leonard replacement.

Scottie Lewis has been amazing in conference play so far. 18 points on 12 shots tonight. Another prospect we could draft with our pick.

Thought it was very unlikely to happen but now I think Nnaji and Stewart both have a good chance of being available when the Heat pick. Teams aren't really interested in drafting bigs that aren't good defenders or can't shoot over wings and guards these days. Still not sure I'd draft Nnaji. I think Smith and Bey are gone as a result.

Isaiah Joe
Scottie Lewis
Patrick Williams
Tyler Bey

My picks. Lewis is my favorite of that group but I also think he will be gone. Has the potential to become a top 3 guard on defense.

Let’s keep an eye on this guy. He fits in Miami.

And of course Kentucky dude Immanuel Quickly will probably be in play. He’s shooting very very good. Would like to see him get more play as a lead guard though. But likely not gonna happen this year. A guy to keep an eye on.

He's not what we need and he's not more impressive than some of the other prospects that could end up being there in the 21-25 range.

We need a pg and a pf/c

Go from there as far as draft priorities. In the 20's I would draft fit, then upside unless somebody slips ridiculously

Best defender available around our range?
