I doubt anyone else would have been good giving Herro anywhere near what Miami gave him last summer. Just another bad contract to throw on the growing pile of bad contracts handed out since LeBron left. Herro and Robinson will make the same amount of money as Butler(a max player) does next year, let that sink in.
Huh?
Maybe you mean their "combined" salary? In any case, Herro's contract is a good NBA deal.
Yes combined, I thought that was implied how I wrote it, maybe not, sorry for that.
No, a 20 ppg scorer that isn't efficient and doesn't play defense is not worth that contract if you want to win a championship. I hope Miami somehow makes the 2nd round; I'm really interested in seeing how well Herro does in the playoffs since he's scored 20 points in 2 of his last 19 playoff games while averaging 11.9 points during that stretch.
I said it several times here..
A guy like Herro you let him become a restricted free agent, and he can go find a contract.. and we match that contract if we think hes worth it. You get one year less on the books, and 99% chance he doesnt get the max sheet on the open market, and that max is still less than what we gave him anyways..
My guess is he gets a contract offer similar to Duncan Robinson.. and in that case then sure match it..
We got some weird people running our books that doesnt understand the value of these players.. just overpaying everybody..
