It’s a bit shortsighted to be so hyperfocused on harden. You know damn well the heat are looking at embiid and not harden.
Once the harden chip falls, it’s going to only be a matter of time before embiid wants to be moved.

Next Year in 2024 we have the following players as Free agents:
Kyle Lowry (Ending salary: $28.3M) "Most likely traded either before the trade deadline or allowed to expire"?
Haywood Highsmith (Ending salary: $1.3M) "will we resign him to another team friendly 3 year deal"?
Players with Player option:
Caleb Martin (Ending salary: $7.1M) "If Caleb does very well he will most likely exercise his player option, can Miami afford him"?
Josh Richardson (Ending salary: $3.0M) "If Richardson plays well he will most likely exercise his player option, Miami will decide which of him or Caleb is more affordable if both of them exercise their options"?
Kevin Love (Ending salary: $4.0M) "Depending on what he has left, chances are he doens't exercise his option and finishes another year".
Thomas Bryant (Ending salary: $2.8M) "Similar to Caleb & Josh he will most likely exercise his option if he plays well looking to get paid"
Players with Non-Guarantees:
Orlando Robinson (Ending salary: $2.1M) "Miami will continue to invest in Orlando, as a future backup center, chances the team keeps him another year, unless they need to clear space to acquire another player".
That means that chances are were looking at the following players coming off the books.
Kyle Lowry
Haywood Highsmith
Caleb Martin
Josh Richardson
Thomas Bryant
Players under contract:
Nikola Jovic
Jaime Jaquez Jr
Bam Adebayo - Will have the opportunity to sign a supermax extension.
Tyler Herro
Jimmy Butler
Duncan Robinson
Orlando Robinson - If Miami guarantees his contract.
Kevin Love - If he decides to stay one more year and not retire.

3 picks (assuming they can unlock that OKC pick) + 2 swaps + JJJ + expirings can be traded for someone.
It doesn't have to be a superstar like Dame/KD.
A guy like lets say Tyus Jones (maybe slightly more talented) could make this team better and have a future as well and I wouldn't expect him to cost all that.

If we can’t get a discounted Dame or Jrue we’re not getting Embiid lol. He’s going to the Knicks

If he's going to Knicks (I don't want Embiid anyway) where does Mitchell go? Highly unlikely he says in Cleveland.

Just saying what the heat is prob focused on. Very likely they aren’t even thinking about harden.

The problem is Miami will not give away 3 FRP's unless its for a universally profound player. Stop dreaming, we will not give up our future assets for a medium upgrade. when another superstar will ask out and were sitting here with nothing to go after them. In another two years, when the OKC pick is behind us we will have max ability to offer all available FRP's we need to hold the line until then. Also Jimmy will have expired and probable retired or taking way less to play a limited role.

This is one of our biggest issues, we think we’re too good to bring on certain elite talent.
“He doesn’t fit the culture, he’s a cancer”
Imagine if we had that same line of thinking when Jimmy became available. We’re talking about a dude who got all his practice gear and cut out all the Timberwolves logos on every piece of it, wore it to practice and took the 3rd string against the starters and smacked them. Meanwhile he was cussing out everyone in the practice gym and after he beat the starters he walked right out of practice screaming “you fuxking need me you’re not **** without me” to the owner. Went straight down the street and hopped on a live interview on espn dragging the organization and airing them out declaring he wanted a trade. Jimmy is the pettiest mfer we’ve seen in the league in awhile and bringing him here changed the organization for the better.
Meanwhile some of you are more than likely licking your chops at the thought of sending Lowry and a 1st to the hornets for Rozier and Cody Martin but want take the risky but far more rewarding chance on a guy who could come in here and instantly average around 25-5-10 running our offense that NEEDS that exact level of talent.
This isn’t all directed at you by the way I just keep seeing people acting like we’re too good to bring in elite talent. If Spo and the Culture are as great as everyone says then there isn’t a better fit in the league for Harden.

I think of all the players out there, Donovan seems the most plausible to get, based on position. We will have Herro available and 3 FRP's. With Embid they will want Bam back as a return.

Hopefully Miami but I highly doubt our FO can get anything done.
He’d likely just go to the Knicks or Nets

Well, they were talking about giving out FRP for Harden. If you ask me I rather just send Kyle over to the Wizards and get Tyus + expirings back and it probably won't cost more than a FRP, also improves this team and Tyus could have a future here if he does well.
Harden would just be a rental that goes nowhere after his contract is up.
This team doesn't need a superstar, they already have Bam/Jimmy.
That Aaron Gordon move that Denver did was perfect. It complemented their star duo with another high impact player and wasn't expensive either.

Take the hit on the 1-year gamble and have basically the same team we have right now continue to compete (minus 37 year old Lowry--soon to be 38 during season). Then regroup after the season.

Teams and the league better not let him end up at his 1 preferred destination now that they tried to use Dame to set precedence on these types of things going forward.
Don’t switch up now!

The reason it worked is Dame just gave up and said, ok you can also send me to Nets, Milwaukee.
Credit to Cronin taking away Dame's power and willing to go where Dame didn't want to go.

Exactly doubtful that works on James Harden. He will be at the strip club wearing a fat suit, sipping on gin, streaming live while the team is at camp practicing talking about how Morey is the devil, and wears purple stockings at night while he pours hot Pepto-Bismol over his body while listening to Britney spears at full blast.

Lowry's expiring contract should bring assest back. Why are the Heat the only team who has to pay to give some other team huge salary cap relief?

To be completely honest our media has a lot to blame for how these things look towards Miami. We are some of the most arrogant media around when it comes to sport, and the fact we as fans are so wishiwashi when the teams do well or bad, it rubs everyone the wrong way. I think around the league our twitter army and talking heads should have just shut the hell up until something was done. The point of every conversation I heard was, your gonna make the deal, and like it, and theres nothing else, and he won't play anywhere else, so just take the L Portland.
