Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 8
Tatum started the 4th quarter against us on Monday, despite the Celtics up 20.
SGA stated the 4th quarter against us last night.
Bam is 27. Herro is 25. They are the same age as the Tatums, the SGAs, etc. Why can't we:
a) start them in the 4th and give them a 2 minute blow with 7 or 8 minutes left, or
b) insert them into 4th early, i.e. with 10 minutes left (not with 6-7 minutes left).
SGA played 39 minutes last night. Bam played 35. Herro played 32. You're on the road against the best team in the NBA, in a hostile territory. Your main guys are going to have to play big minutes in order for you to pull off the W.
I'm not advocating for Spo to pull a Thibodeau and start playing our guys 40+ minutes a night. But they need to put in high 30s, especially on the road in a hostile environment.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 8
I think everything will be fine and Bam is right, it definitely is on the players AND the coaching staff. Front office too.
They do need to get him some help with a legit star though, he’s had a feel of winning at a very high level. That will be his continued expectations going forward whether that’s here or somewhere else. Bam will be the best guy forced out or not given his money in the later days when the time comes, as we’ve showed with Wade and Jimmy. Wonder if that weighs on his mind at all or even has been thought about. Organization loves him but the fans are a bunch of haters. Time will tell

Especially with the break coming up both guys should’ve played 38-40 minutes last night. Both should’ve played the entire 4th quarter. Niko clearly did not need to be on the court last night

He's not at the level you can call coaches out publicly. You gotta be all nba to do that in my book to do that. He's been great past 8 - 10 games, easily their best player in that stretch. But overall for the season its a drop down from last year. He can't be doing the public thing when he's not having a great year. If he was consistently playing at all nba level maybe we win a couple more games and are not under 500. So Bam need to worry about his own performance. Whatever he feels the staff is doing wrong, he can bring it up in team meetings. But going public ain't the way especially since he's the team leader.
If he feels he would be better served elsewhere that his prerogative to put a trade request in. But do it privately lets not go through the Jimmy thing again.

I couldnt stand watching it. A perfectly good game and he said "Nope!".

Normally people go public when saying things privately go nowhere. Odds are more likely than not, thats what happened here. Its doesnt help that we were unable to get Jimmy a star in the past four years.

I thought Niko played fine overall, until the fourth quarter. I'll live with missed 3s (if they are good looks and ignoring being given grenades at the end of the shot clock), bc he needs to learn to keep shooting through bad spells while keeping his confidence elsewhere. His defense wasn't terrible, he sagged off the corner/wing a bit too much at times, but 1-on-1 defense was otherwise pretty decent.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 8
I commend Spo. My team on 2k is currently 23-49. After a flurry of trades I sometimes find myself playing well. Up big going into the 4th quarter. Then I remind myself I want the best lottery pick. I'm currently 4th or 5th worst record. So I start jacking up 3s with Whiteside (he makes some), then run out of bounds or back court violations for the a whole quarter. Sometimes it is really hard to lose intentionally in that game when up big on a bad team. Like momentum takes over and PC tries to lose harder than you. But Spo has found a way to do it in a real game. I remember Riley in 2008 pulling out all the stops and just taking games off for hip surgery. No need to wait for the offseason. Nothing wrong with using a hidden hand to tip the scales in a certain direction. Jimmy played a role in the plan even if unwittingly.

That's a bit harsh...no?
Dude did a flying reverse tee-bag, full on nuts to the face....and...got the refs to sign off on it as a legitimate basketball move....

It’s not just that he’s not at the level where you can call out coaches publicly, although that is definitely true. It’s that he’s been garbage for the majority of the season. We don’t have the record that we do if he had been even remotely looking like a professional basketball player Prior to the past 8 to 10 games.
That said, I wonder how the FO and coaching staff respond. Especially considering that a public call out against Jimmy was something that has continuously been said was a big part of the beginning of the fallout, and that they defended. What about when it happens in reverse? Will they take it on the chin like they wanted Jimmy to? Time will tell. I bet Bam kind of has the battery in his back now too with Jimmy gone and him being the only “star” left on the team and feeling empowered as the one lifeline that the organization has left.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 8
Bam has the right to say what he wants as the leader of this team. He’s anchored an elite defense that almost got us 3 finals trips and has several massive playoff moments during those deep runs to help Spo and Jimmy get us there, he has the right to say what he wants, an inefficient scoring stretch to start the season doesn’t change that. He’s holding everyone accountable as a captain should. It’s not like he came out and just blasted the coaching staff. He just simply said everyone needs to be better and figure it out, coaches included.

Bam is a pro, so this is may be just frustration seeping. So this probably one to one convo with Spo and that's the end of it. If he continues publicly calling the coaches out then it potentially may escalate. I don't think this FO is any mood to have any terms dictated by any player publicly especially if that player isn't MVP elite. But it probably ends here

Reminder of better times, still the most aesthetically pleasing game I've ever seen in a player, that period from 06 playoffs to first half of 06-07 season, I'll always wonder what the ceiling would be if he didn't have his meniscus removed.
As for Bam/coaches, eh we'll see. I think this team is who we thought it was, a .500 squad.
They got lucky 6 years ago in a situation where they really should have had to sit in the lottery until the next big star arrived, and landed Jimmy, but some people took it for granted and view it more as a wasted opportunity to win a title. Regardless how you see it, at this point this is a franchise that has basically been in the playoffs for nearly 30 years straight, that's rarefied air in the NBA, we're kind of long overdue for a stint in the lottery to get the next star.
Even the Spurs had to suffer for Wemby, and that's the franchise we tend to get compared to a lot.

This Bam calling out coaches thing can be good or very bad. If we come out fired up for the next stretch of games it will have been worth it. If the team keeps playing like it is or worse, things could go off the rails quickly

I do think he can improve. Idk if hes that dude tho. Only started over 40 games once in his career to date.
“That dude” isn’t on this roster currently and in fact this roster is full of players who have virtually 0.00% shot of ever being “that dude”
Melo’s percentage is far greater imo
Cool. I don't believe lamelo ball will ever be a top 10 player in the NBA personally. He hasn't even been available to play in 60% of the NBA games for his career to date, has never played in a playoff game and has never reached NBA average efficiency. But go off.
Dont know if this is supposed to be a cryptic way of implying Bam is "that guy"
How impactful was he in the 4th?
