Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 3
I'm glad someone told Butler to shut the **** up lol
He coasted all last season....gets hurt in the play-in game we never should have been in....then runs his mouth about how we would've beat the Celtics if he was healthy.
Now he's pulling this BS....

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 3
What is the point of having a center (or any other position) who can guard all five positions when he can only guard one position at a time? I keep reading that Bam can guard all five positions.. That is good but I think we need him to guard centers and not perimeter players. In fact, Bam switching to guard a perimeter players creates a huge problem because then we have a small player protecting the paint. Unless you have five players that can guard all five positions, having a center (Bam) who can guard all five positions is useless. Also, one on one defense does not have a great impact as one on one offense. Wade single-handedly carry the team to a championship with this scoring ability. I don't know if Bam can win us a championship with this defense.

Last I checked rebounding is defensive element and when Bam fails to protect the glass against guys named Kessler and Bitadze and a bunch of other non all star level players, which causes Mia to get regularly brutalized on second chance points, that goes down as a defensive L.

Bam probably can NOT win a title. and, he wants to get paid Max money.
Just wait and see. After Jimmy is gone, Bam is the next to ask for a trade. Again, I love Bam, He's a great guy and a perfect professional, but he's a nice defender who can NOT carry a team. I don't care if the Heat went to the finals and eliminated Phili a few years back.
This build was fun while it lasted and went to the finals, but it is not working anymore.

Now, we have a team with no superstars. Bam is a great defensive force but can't carry this team.
Hero improved, but he's not a star.
To be honest, the next player that will be asked to be traded is Bam.
Pat will not do it, but I'm all about rebuilding through the draft—your draft superstars, like Wade. Superstars attack more superstars, like Lebron and Bosh, like Shaq.
We're becoming the Miami Dolphins. Always in the middle of the pack.
Maybe its because I don't follow as closely anymore, but some of these takes are just absurd. The Dolphins have been mediocre to bad for 20+ years, the Heat haven't missed the playoffs in years and have been to 2 of the last 5 Finals and 3 of the last 5 ECF.
I get that it feels good to panic because its more interesting than just accepting sometimes nothing interesting is happening, but damn.
Man some people just like to complain. In what universe is going to 2 nba finals and one conference finals in 5 years consider middle of the pack. People keep begging for a team like the Phoenix suns or the Clippers or the Nets for past 5 yrs, who all three been barely playoffs teams. The Heat been the best or the 2nd best team 3 out of the past 5 seasons.

Pretty sure sending Bradley Beal with his no trade clause and remaining 53M and 57M for a 2031 frp and a 2026 srp is exactly that Barry, a low ball offer.
I get that it's all they can offer but it's bad value.

I think that is why he said "essentially" - because you ask someone to make their best offer and that is really it. Of course they could, I suppose, offer Durant, but then the build is dead and there is no point.

lol i'm not here to teach you the team dynamics of winning basketball. Maybe others will help you out.
Bam is absolutely not a Wade level player. Nor has he been suggested to be by anyone.
He's Draymond with more size offensive impact and versatility.

Last season Miami was #3 in the NBA in defensive rebounding percentage despite starting 6'5 Haywood Highsmith at PF for half the season. Top 10 each of the past 3 seasons.
What in the hell are you on about?

These dudes just hate to hate I promise you nothing they say is backed with any sort of facts or evidence and they all just run with it because they only understand PPG. Our fans are so bad I lowkey want Bam to get traded to OKC so they can see how lopsided the league would be but as a Heat fan I would obviously hate to lose someone who will likely finish in the 3-5 range all time for my team.

For the Heat at minimum this is going to be a 5 year rebuild. Maybe longer. By then Bam will be past 30 and on the decline. It would be in Miami’s best interest to learn their lesson from the Jimmy butler saga (dating back to 2-3 years ago) and deal Adebayo while he’s got trade value. It would be in Bam’s best interest since he would like to compete for titles while he’s still got the athleticism to be a key cog on a championship team. Heat need to get out of their own way and do what’s right for once in a long time and blow it all the way up. Start building some draft capital for the 2nd half of this decade and beyond

Don't see why it's a 5 year rebuild. It can take a ton of different directions that none of us can predict confidently. But I don't think any player should be untouchable for the right price during this clear pivot point.

Could get Wiggins or even Zion or something wild in the Jimmy trade and trade for Fox this summer and all is well. That’s how fast it can change.

Rebuilds don't take 5 years. I don't think the Heat have had a 5 year rebuild ever. Maybe the first five years of the franchise but shortly after that Riley joined. The longest "rebuild" stretch was mainly because of Bosh's contract when he got sick. Butler joined 2 years after Bosh's contract came off the books. The big 3 came 2.5 years after the Shaq team started getting blown up. Wade got drafted the same summer that Zo left and Shaq joined the following year.

This is not the norm. This evidence how elite this franchise has been.
