Yeah, I think the window has closed on this.

I doubt we're through perusing additions though. Between Douglas and Mason, there's a roster spot essentially open for a contributor.

Would love to add him over Mason as insurance but it's clear I think right now that that ain't the type of deal he's lookin for.

not sure what direction we are going in with both Mason and Douglas, but i do know we have matchup issues with many teams, including the Brooklyn Nets. For all I've seen with Oden, i still think we need a refined center. You always need that in the playoffs. We have been a very lucky franchise so far by winning without a center. With Wade ailing, i hope they figure out where they are going to get his production from because everyone at Wade's position has been underwhelming

I have to keep saying this. Championship teams force their opponents to adjust to their style. Losers adjust to their opponents.

You and me both man. I spent a whole week trying to get people to understand this concept, but I kept getting replies gushing over a guy that has sucked most of the year. We don't need him.

I still say there's something gonna happen. Whether it's Bynum-related or not, I have a feeling one of Mason/Douglas is going IMO

No sense in parting with a guard of either Mason's or Douglas's caliber unless Bynum were coming. If one is waived, Bynum is coming for sure. If not, there is enough confidence in Oden to focus more on relieving Wade's knees a bit more with the extra guard play. Who knows, maybe Douglas still has something left to give us.

its cuz he sucks, more of an insurance point guard. But yeah having him is kind of a waste.

I'd replace Mason with a box of donuts at this point.

I agree that this is not the group we roll into the PO with - I think we have 1 more to add - just not sure who.

I'm not shocked Douglas hasn't played yet. Had the road trip & just got home. Give he coaching staff a few practices to get a look at him working with the group, to see where he can fit in

That's the reactive approach.

The proactive approach is to ask yourself the question whether you are close to the 1995 Rockets, who haven't even won a division title since their 1995 championship, or you are strong enough, like Jordon's Bulls, to stay the course and win a couple of additional championships.

I see the correlation between Oden's minutes and the activity of this thread

It's true most fans feel less desperate about adding Bynum, but one can argue that Oden's impact is more proof that playing big with a real Center is what we should do. Oden seem to be helping mostly because of his size, he's not in real shape yet. Would Bynum really do much worse then him?

I don't really mind if we go after Bynum, but I do want us to add another big body to help Oden and Bird handle the Center spot. I like how Bosh looks at PF.

Your last sentence sums it up for me. It's about Bosh IMO. Bynum may not be the best fit but him just being big helps us defensively and the impact it has on Bosh by sliding him over to the 4 is huge.

I think Bynum is worth the rent, with Bosh emerging as the 2nd option, a true center may be needed. I think thru free agency and the draft they can upgrade on the lacking positions. I'd say, wade goes to 6th, Bynum comes, Bosh is 2nd option. May be a bit optimistic, but whatever.

Edit: i know Bynum wants the minutes, and THATS the problem, he hasnt earned them and doesnt have the attitude to gain them quickly.

Bynum as starting center with a rotation of Bird and Oden coming off the bench along with Wade as a 6th man and Bosh as the second option is ideal.

I think it's time to let Bynum go lol the more Oden develops, the less likely we'll see Bynum on this team.
