How does Embiid fares vs Jokic? if any stats guy here can help?
They’ve played 4 games over the last 4 years and Jokic shot 14-23 (61%) from the field. Doesn’t really matter though because like Herro, Embiid is hurt every single playoffs and chokes to the point he’s never even made it out of the 2nd round.
We’re looking for answers in the wrong place, defense wasn’t the issue
Herro had a very random injury, so I don't blame that on him. What I do blame him on is that it was it a very stupid play and Herro making stupid basketball decisions is normal. The play, G.Allen lost the ball that went in the backcourt, Allen could have picked the ball up earlier but took his time basically baiting Herro into diving for the ball that he had no chance of getting and leaving Miami having to play 4 on 5 which is a big disadvantage, him breaking his hand is just an anomaly in that situation. He does seem to get hurt a lot but he's still early in his career, it could all just be bad luck (and some bad decisions).
Spoiler:
Defense once again was Miami's strength during this run that wasn't prioritized in their 44-38 season, they need to figure out how to stay as good defensively as they are while getting better offense, I question letting the defense getting worse just to be better on offense, it really didn't work most of the season, yet they went on a great run when they had to rely on their defense.

It’s not even about that at this point. It’s about the league putting a stop to teams with an open purse such as the Warriors and Clippers who spent way over the tax with very little impunity. Draymond was crying about the new rules cause it’s going to cost him a big money extension with the Warriors. Barry Jackson is just having a little fun at this point spending Arison’s money cause he knows the fans eat it up but he clearly knows it’s pipe dream talk.

Eh, i dont think we should be worrying about adding a body that can guard Jokic. Thats the Suns, Lakers, Warriors, etc western conference teams problem to solve. nuggets were great this year but i dont see them going to the finals year to year.
We got to simply find a star player that can play both ways and take off some of the offensive load off of bam and butler

I don't mind the hustle. He was just unlucky. It's unfortunate his Heat career ended this way. He can be really really good but he needs a situation where he can play a ton of minutes and work through his mistakes. Miami may not be the best place for that, as we are in win now. Washington would be great for him as he would be lead guard. Blazers they already have so many guards so maybe not there. But by far I prefer Dame over Beal. And I'd rather keep roster as is than take on Beal's contract. Dame is the prize and I hope Herro keeps working in the future proves his doubters wrong

Fun fact... it seems that the online version of the Miami Herald pushes a subscription to view their content while also having yahoo pay them to publish the same exact story on their website. Just toss the name of the article in a search engine and go to the yahoo version of it.

Maybe I'm just not following the scenario that you're presenting, but my understanding is that Miami is not currently slated to be past the second apronFor 2023-24, the salary cap is projected to be $134 million, and the luxury tax line is set to be $162 million. The first apron is set at $7 million above the luxury tax level in each season of the CBA (so $169 million for 2023-24) and the second apron is set at $17.5 million above the tax threshold (or $179.5 million). In future seasons, all of those numbers will rise
The 2nd apron is projected to be at $179.5M. Miami's current committed payroll for next season is at $173M (9 players). I know Miami will have to continue to fill out the roster.
So are you communicating that AFTER Miami fills out the roster with bird rights, exception signing, vet mins that they will then be above the 2nd tax apron?
It seems at that point the only real limitation (aside from luxury tax) will be in-season moves such as signing buy-out players or particular in-season trade maneuvers. Does that sound right?
Correct, even with just vet mins on the final 5 roster spots would take us past the second apron.
Penalties for exceeding the second apron include the loss of the midlevel exception, a ban on including cash as part of trades and the inability to accept more salary in a trade than the team sends out. Teams in the second apron will also be unable to aggregate salary in trades and cannot trade first-round picks seven years in the future or sign players on the buyout market. Also, if a team exceeds the second apron and remains there in one of the four subsequent years, its draft pick will get moved to the end of the first round.
So if we do all those things before passing 2nd apron then it’s only restrictive re in-season moves. The following season TBD

Hustle is great, the point is that it was a low basketball IQ play because there was no way he was getting the ball before Allen , yet he still dove taking himself out of the possession, even had he not broke his hand it was a horrible decision because it gave the Bucks a 4 on 5 they should have capitalized on.

Potentially, It's hard to say. The cap and tax aprons may grow with the increases in salary on the roster. But it's likely this would be the case if we close the roster very close to the 2nd apron.
We'd only face the above penalties if our salaries exceeded the 2nd apron. So if we stay under the 2nd apron we can still do all the above. However next year with the increases in everyone's salaries that could potentially take us over the 2024-2025 2nd tax apron.

The Bucks dont make sense. I agree it's smokescreen or posturing. Middleton was involved in the coaching search to replace buldenhozer with Adrian griffin. He is widely expected to turn down player option and figure out long term deal with bucks. And why would wizards want jrue or middleton when they're trying to do a rebuild? It's fake news.
I'm watching Harden. If Harden goes to rockets, sixers are gonna chase beal hard with Tobias Harris 40M expiring and draft assets. If Harden stays, knock sixers off that list.
Who is left? Hawks with some crazy trae swap? The magic? OKC or Utah maybe throws some picks at wizards but why would beal OK those trades? Lakers have no assets... i just don't see any trade partners...
as long as micky ok's it and is willing to go up to 172-179M 2nd apron limit and we don't clear the treasure chest of assets, adding Beal would be interesting and focus on Jimmy's window.
