Do you think Ware, Jovic, and JJJ can or will become players on the Jrue Holiday, DeMar DeRozan, Kevin Durant level?

My comment wasn't meant to indicate the success of that potential roster or trivialities of trading out certain players etc.

It was more to say - we could have extended Jimmy one year, but we made it seem like that extension was at loggerheads with some major plan for the next generation roster.

Now we are talking about getting and extending guys older than Jimmy.

I'm not sure this roster in any configuration is a contender with the pieces we are talking about. But if that is the case, then we possibly could have just stuck out what we had till the next iteration.

Respectfully, y’all don’t need another Komepinga. You already have plenty of those in your front office and fan base.

Zero interest in Kuminga.

I just hope that after this offseason the team has something resembling an offense. This is entertainment before anything else. Last two years have been hell.

Yeah, I think the Butler saga was really about re-establishing a hierarchy in the organization. Riley simply wasn't going to tolerate Butler's antics and his coasting through the regular season at any cost. Basically, no player is bigger than the team, and I think subsequent interviews with Riley have shown that was his thinking.

Miami has a chance to acquire an all-NBA player at a massive discount. I think it's a great chance for Miami to get its finances structured to clear insane amounts of space in 2027, but that requires getting getting Durant and trading Herro (under the assumption he'll want an extension in the $45M/season range). I just wouldn't be comfortable giving Herro that kind of money and having ~$100M/year committed to just Bam and Herro. But if Miami were to trade Herro for DeRozan, Miami would be at a high risk of having everyone come off the books with basically just Bam left in 2027.

Maybe the other option is where Miami misses out on Durant, trades Wiggins for DeRozan, gets a player for Robinson and Jaquez (Smart? Kuminga?), and Miami continues to develop its young players, but this really feels like treadmill territory, especially if Herro gets a massive extension (on top of Kuminga's deal).

Definitely treadmill at least to 2027/2028 if we strike out on KD imo. That Terry trade worked out so poorly up until this point. Don't see them blowing it truly up until then so they'll move to the next best option and eventually find whatever they are seeking.

Of all the options KD offers a clear path to a decent season if you get like 80% of his production while keeping him healthy if our rumored offer is what it is (Wiggs, Robinson, and HH + 20 and swaps) that roster could be top half in a weak East. He gives us someone whose gonna give us a 10 point quarter when we are cheeks. Demands the ball in late clock situations. Spo gonna run the wildest 1-3-1 zone D with DMitch, Jovic, KD, Bam, and Ware. I could get excited for that team. It's still deep get some growth from Ware, Jovic, and Jamie plus whatever last seasons rookie offer. It's not horrible squad little luck on match ups we could get some Knicks action 1st round ^^.

edit:
Agree with what you are saying. I just don't see them throwing in the towel yet on Herro and Bam for better or worse

The Jimmy drama caused too much chaos in the locker room. If we’re going to run it back, I expect everyone to step up and improve.

Was always an utter pipe dream to think otherwise considering the mafia style collusion that took place to get him there.

Our offense was bad the year prior, too.

If so go ahead and put that pen to paper then Luka so we don’t have to sit here for a year hope trafficking just so Pat can offer him $15M per year under the max because we “want him on our terms”

Suns are practically begging the Spurs through the media to up there offer. I have no doubts Durant wants to be there but the Spurs have bigger fish to fry. I have to imagine the Spurs low ball offer consist of right now is Harrison Barnes, Keldon Johnson, Malachi Branham, and Blake Wesley with 14th pick and 8.5 million in cap savings. The hold out could be Sochan and extra pick or possibly Vassell who I really think the Spurs need to keep that contract for a bigger deal down the line.

PF Harrison Barnes
SF Keldon Johnson
SG Blake Wesley
PG Malachi Branham
14th pick
8.5 million in cap savings

vs

PF Nikola Jovic or SF Jaime Jaquez Jr.
SF Duncan Robinson(10 mil in cap savings 9.5 dead money)
SF Andrew Wiggins
SG Pelle Larrson or PF Keshad Johnson
20th pick

I don't even consider Houston in this anymore. I don't see them giving up on Jabari and the 10th pick and other then that they have hoops to climb financially to get anything done without FVV's contract. The above Spurs offer is the most realistic minimal offer I could imagine they have on the table without including Sochan and Vassell which I doubt they want to include. We have to be holding out on someone the Suns want. Could be Ware of course who they really want but Spurs have nothing even close in this deal to a Kelel Ware. Jaquez Jr is a much cheaper version of Keldon Johnson. Wiggins has more worth over Harrison Barnes. Suns are really just grinding gears right now and hoping and praying someone budges before the draft but with running the numbers these seem to be the two most likely packages that work within legal financial framework without needing to wait for the Suns to release Micic and Martin to get into the 1st apron or needing a third team.
