not buying this continuity/chemistry nonsense

every single piece the lakers have fits perfectly (unlike when MIA got together and MIA STILL got to the finals)

plus dwight is a willing passer out of the double
plus gasol is the best passing big in the league
plus steve nash is one of the best passers who ever lived
the only "chemistry issue" is will kobe allow anyone on the team to get credit other than him

didnt the lakers immediately go to 3 straight finals once they got gasol? yes because he fit perfectly and he's a great passer with high basketball IQ

now they add nash and howard
and jamison off the bench
they'll never be outrebounded either :(

Agreed, chemistry won't be a problem. They'll be a hard team to guard. Their only real weakness is that they're a weak defensive team, but they've also got Mike Brown so who knows.

I instantly want Channing Frye. I don't know why honestly. But he was the 1st person I thought of even over Dalembert.. Anyone who knows my posts knows I've been plotting this since the season was over... He takes any big out of the paint(3pt%) ... Can start and ego won't get in the way to end the game on the bench... No one has probably seen more pnr on both offense and defense in the game the last 3 years playing with Steve Nash in the game and in practice.

Then I definitely would sign Oden... I want this dude to become the reclamation project of the century... If he's a 1/3 of what he was he'd be better than any backup we can get. He only has to play spot minutes at the end of the year to get some legs back. Can you imagine him as a back up in the playoffs vs knicks with Tyson and Camby, Philly with Bynum, Indiana with Hibbert, thunder ibaka Perkins, Memphis with zbo and Marc, Denver with McGee, and now Lakers with Dwight and pau. Can you imagine Oden just getting 10min and the defense the team could possible play... We talk about offensive lineups but what would teams do against Oden-Bosh-Battier-Bron-Wade?

The difference between Oden and Curry is Oden actually knows how to play defense... His bb iq is still there... We just gotta get his body on the same Page... Nothing more than 10 min a game the 1st year... Up to 20 min the 2nd year. 3rd year he'll be a beast.

Dwight Howard's presence alone makes that team a defensive top 10 team.

If you thought we had problems with Jason Kidd - Tyson Chandler vs 2010 Mavericks... just wait until Nash-Howard gets a hold of us, while Kobe-Artest-Gasol are on the court too.

One big thing though, is that Kobe and Nash are old and washed up. Ron Artest is too.

The game of basketball is more than the names on a roster. I've said enough on this. That screencap of the ESPN analysts weighing in says a lot, with overly-pessimistic Israel being expectedly overly-pessimistic. I'd love to hear what Haberstroh and Hollinger have to say about it, as they're my two favorite hoops writers. They ignore bias and just look at the X's and O's (or numbers in Hollinger's case). God knows how OKC dismantled the Lakers in 5 when they faced all those old names before. Old Nash and a slight upgrade at C makes them clear favorites? I'm laughing over here. I can only assume that continuous doubt and skepticism is gonna be the norm for Heat fans during the Big3 era. Every year we'll have a new dragon to slay. PEACE.

You lost me the moment you made the ludicrous declaration that two players that averaged 27.9/5.4/4.6/43% (with a torn wrist ligament) and 12.5/10.2/53% are old and washed up. Seriously? It doesn't take a homer to realize how silly that is.

I think OKC is a terrible matchup for the Lakers still and will probably beat them out convincingly.

I think if Miami didn't win the Finals that Bosh and someone else was going to be traded for Dwight.

Just my opinion though.

Would the heat ever pursue darko and Blatche and cut somebody on the current roster?

Something's wrong with Darko, and we already know Blatche is a knuckleheaded locker room cancer.

There have been a number of scrub 7-footers signed this summer so far, yet not Darko. Don't get me wrong. He is someone I'd actually like to see us sign, but something is wrong with that guy. Something no GM wants to touch right now. PEACE.

looking at the numbers, darko has been totally ineffective against bynum or howard, regardless of minutes played
any1 out there that has had ANY effect at all?

I'm not too scared. I dont see a huge difference between Bynum and Howard and they really haven't beaten us much with him, then there's the injury aspect, and then there's the age factor, and to top it off, they still have to mesh as a team, we all know how long that took with us, and it might even take longer with kobe wanting to take 35 shots a game.

By the time they figure it out, it might be too late for players like Jamison and Nash, with a declining Kobe.

Not scared of the Lakers at all.

come again? who won the championship last year? oh... yep, the Heat did. Who's being cocky here? we're the champs til someone proves otherwise, sorry to say.

And to compare it to Knicks fans... LOL. Again did the team we root for not win the trophy last year..

Anyways, that Lakers team is going to be great and we might be in for a rare treat if we can get a Heat LA Finals showdown. Still, I see us with the slight edge especially with the addition of Ray Ray. Would also like to see one more big body added to the squad for insurance.

lol .. living up to your name I see

If anything, this just ensures that the big 3 re-up when it gets to be that time .. no way do they walk away and try to do it on their own when the NBA seems to be moving toward "Big 4"s

I just read on bleacher report that the heat should trade a few bench players for Jason Smith. Is there any value to this idea? He seems to be a better option off the bench than somebody like Milicic.

I'd say no. If we're going to drop JJ (classy vet that plays his role with no complaints) + the Phily 1st I'd be after something more than Smith.

Plus, it's Bleacher Report. It's good for entertainment (sometimes), not breaking news. The same article has us trading with Cleveland for Varejao. The other ideas, specifically signing Darko or Birdman aren't anything new either (I forgot the 5th move they suggested).

If we're going to trade for a Smith, why not try for the one in ATL? Chalmers/MM/Anthony/Phily 1st? Get 'er done Riley!

Are you stupid?

Chemistry? Nash, Kobe, Dwight and Pau have never played together.
Players age? Hahaha Kobe is 34, Nash is almost 40 and Pau is 33.

Until the "Fantastic 4" Lakers win anything Miami is the absolute favorite to repeat as champions. Take your media circus to LA and keep it there.
