If Whiteside can hit a consistent jumper and the 3 ball like Demarcus Cousins, and can pass out of the post, give him all the money he wants.

We'll offer him what we think is fair, max or a little below max. If he takes it, great. I think he will.

If he doesn't, you move on.

I ain't worried, We hold the cards in our hands. If Pat/Spo feels he deserves the max, we can offer it. If they feel he doesn't, it means they have a better plan in place. It's in our hands.

Still a lot of basketball left, let's see how he does the rest of the season and especially in the playoffs.

I would just add that if Whiteside stays or go it will not come down to money. It will come down to how Whiteside see his future. This would be the situation with or without Whiteside's Bird rights. With the salary cap increasing every team can offer around the same amount of money. There are also Very good big like Horford, Gasol, Howard, Noah and Serviceable ones in Hibbert and Mozgov who will be available for the same amount or less. The above list makes it foolish for any team to trade for whiteside now and foolish for the heat to really worry about it now. I for one would miss Whiteside if he leaves but would get over it if we get any of the first four i mentioned. Think about Having Gasol and Bosh or Bosh and Horford or Bosh and Howard even Bosh and Noah. Any of those four combinations is on par with Bosh and Whiteside and may be a better long term fit with Dragic.

Well I agree with the first part - no team can offer him more then us so if we really want him, it shouldn't be about
money.

I totally disagree about the second part. White has his issue but he's a much more promising piece going forward then the names you mentioned :

Howard - body breaking down fast, clownish.
Noah - just looks done, also has sever health issues, dropped of a cliff last couple of years.
Hibbert and Mozgov - just not same caliber talents, very poor versions of Hassan.
Pau Gasol - will be 36 and should expect a sharp and fast decline any minute now, but will still demand a long term contract.

The only player that might be a respectful consolation prize IMO is Al Horford.
He's just a very solid player : smart, well rounded, can defend, pass, experienced, high character, will be 30 YO next year, can really shot and space the floor which is a big bonus for us with Dragic and Wade.

It's between him and Whiteside, we need one of them and then we could focus on the wing.

Exactly and the worse part is say Dwight or Horford will command a salary higher than Whiteside max and are all older. That's one of the reasons teams like the Lakers and the Rockets are going to go after Whiteside hard.

Whiteside in LA is good. Wouldn't be mad at that, or the Dark horse Spurs.

I'm counting on the fact that:

(a) Hassan has developed positive links with his teammates and the Heat staff.
(b) Hassan has developed positive links with HeatNation.
(c) Hassan has developed positive links with DJ Khaled and the rest of the community.
(d) and most of all that Hassan wants to win and believes in the team.

I have this feeling we'll not have to offer a max deal either, but I'm not relying on it.

As to point (a) of your post, did you happen to see Hassan's tweet about Wade after last night's game? I thought that was awesome.

I did, and there were others like this over last summer. He couldn't wait to play with his teammates again. During their break, Tyler Johnson and Whiteside visited Italy together.

DJ Khaled is *always* in Heat gear. He smart, He loyal... Whiteside's a huge fan. Of course, LA can break out a lot of incentives too, but they will still be a young team that is rebuilding.

As crazy as it sounds. I think Khaled plays a huge role in us retaining Whiteside. Crazy pairing but with Khaled being cemented down in the 305 with his booming finga lickin chicken spot and his recent homage to the Don Pat Riley. It's no coincidence that Riley took the time to give Khaled the time of day recently and take a few photos with him. Riley knows the relationship. Khaled seems to be doing a lot of postive things these days so they are worst people that Hassan could have aligned himself with. The worst thing is they like to clown alot but it's all good.

If Whiteside caters to his ego he can go get paid and lose over in LA - but be the man he thinks he can be.

If he truly appreciates what we've been doing for him here and acknowledges our hard work in taming and developing him then he stays - minus max money. As i see it we've done alot for his career. I understand all the 'this is a business' bullsh*t....but there's still such thing as honor, loyalty and integrity.

Sooner or later we will truly see what kind of man/player Hassan is.

Lol no. Hassan is going to do whats right for him. Nowhere in that tweet did you hear that Hassan wants to leave the Heat. The guy said that if the Heat blink on a new deal then he's gone. Whats wrong with that? Its not just about the money its about whether or not you believe in him.

Are the Heat going to call him at 12:01am or will they try to chase after Kevin Durrant and put Hassan on the back burner. It is the latter scenario that would result in Hassan taking a max deal from the Lakers and theres nothing wrong or selfish about that.

as i see it Hassan is a part of our plan and he's not stupid to not realize that he can't be paid max if our desire is to be able to sign KD. He must realize that he needs to stay here to help entice Durant and he also must allow us room to do so.

you're making it out as if we have to choose between the two but Hassan i'm certain will be very much part of Riles plan.

if Hassan simply bolts for the cash then that says alot about him imo. He has a real shot at a championship here. Hell cant you smell it? At 34yo Wade still playing like he's old self, Bosh one of the most efficient players in the league, you add him, Dragic and the potential of somebody like KD.....you'd be a fool not to see the opportunity he has here. We are so close to being true contenders.

I'm sure we 'believe' in Hassan but we need more than what we have. Hell i'm sure the entire team acknowledges that.

Durant is signing a 1 year deal with a player option, probably with OKC. He is a 9 year veteran in the league with a max contract of $25,000,000. Next year (2017) he will be a 10 year veteran who can make almost $36,000,000 per year. That's a huge difference to establish a base salary.

W/ is why we are going to blow our loads all over our selves when Riles announces that we signed Durant :D

So, you are trying to sign Kevin Durant, Wade, and Hassan Whiteside for about 35 million dollars? I doubt if the player's union allows that.
