He is a 36% career 3pt shooter and while he can hit the long range shot at times, he is not James Jones. He is more in line with Luol Deng as a 3pt shooter IMO. His game from 3ft out to the 3pt line is BAD so he won't contribute much else. He is a long 6'8 however (long ago some fans predicted him growing to 7'0 by now ) and can play some decent defense using his length. A very poor's man 3&D player basically. Definitely a depth signing only with Deng, JJ, Winslow and Green getting minutes in front of him.

Also, with Wade and Dragic sitting lately, it exposed a depth issue in our backcourt, namely PG. I know TJ should be back soon but we just can't rely on the fact that he is going to be healthy going into the playoffs and what if J-Rich struggles?. The main question is if Briante is ready to assume some of those minutes in a playoff game if his number is called OR do we sign a veteran like John Lucas III who has been there before. My preference would be Briante but I wouldn't write off the Lucas possibility.

I'm not sure if John Lucas is the right move we might as well get Chris Quinn to suit up,at least then he can stare into the defenders with his eyes and tranquilize them.

I'm all in on the choice of Briante Weber. I know his shot needs work, but his defense is NBA-quality. He's been getting more steals in the D-League than he was getting in college - 7 last night... It was ridiculous. His AST-TO ratio is good and you can see that his scoring will improve (it's already decent for the D-League). Having said that, I can't imagine we'll use him in the postseason unless Dragic goes down, and then we'll be on our way out anyhow. He looks good for developing next year, though, and we can get a claim on him simply by signing him now.

Coty Clarke had another good game on Saturday against the 87ers. He can hit 3 pointers and slash to score layups. I'm not convinced he can defend at the Miami level. Here are some of his highlights (pretty boring in my opinion, but effective):

If we are trying to add a range shooter, Putney would have been perfect. It's a shame about his suspension. D-League players who are suspended cannot be brought into the NBA until their suspension ends and his goes through the end of the season until the first game next year.

Whittington hasn't been impressive either lately. Ironically, Stokes is the best player in the D-League and we can't sign him. That's actually pretty funny since we're paying his salary via New Orleans, which could have been used instead to acquire a 2nd round pick from Denver, Boston, etc. I'm not excited about any of the remaining rookies except Quinn Cook (who we don't need if we invest in Weber).

I'm definitely not a fan of bringing in Lucas or Drew (I'd rather have Liggins if it comes to that... or Erick Green, Ricky Ledo, or Jimmer Fredette - who we wouldn't have rights to if they work out, but might be able to at least shoot). I do like Keith Benson (the center from Sioux Falls), and he might be useful if Whiteside gets hurt - Stoudemire and Haslem can't carry us through the postseason by himself, imo.

Here are some Liggins highlights. Liggins, by the way, is a very good defensive guard.

I'm also not on the Dorell Wright bus, but I'll cheer like crazy for him, if he comes. ;-)

Why are yall looking at swing players. Our lack of depth is at the 1, 4 and 5 position.

Weber and Liggins are both point guards Twix. Putney and Whittington play the 4. Benson is a center. So... ;-)

Liggins a point? I thought he was a SG and SF?

He plays SG & PG, but he is moving into a SF position sometimes. He played PG on Orlando and PG/SG for Miami in 2013-4. Liggins has actually improved since when he was here. He has a pretty good 3 point shot, good defense, and a decent assist/turnover ratio. He might be useful, but still isn't my choice. Bummer Putney is out...

Well, in Sioux Falls he is clearly more a ball handler. He had 10 assists the other night. He is versatile though and his shot has improved a lot since Orlando/Miami days.

Of those 3, I'd say he's much more like Richardson. He has a 6-11 wingspan. Both Richardson & Winslow are more explosive. Joe is a better ball handler.

I can't see them adding two guards. Johnson should be back real soon (hopefully). Only room for one sit and learn player at guard. I'm thinking the Heat need a combo 4 and 5 player.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

At this point, I'm wondering if TJ will be able to play in any of our 5 remaining games.

you sold me bring on Coty Clarke, reminds me of a thinner Sullinger. all the other prospects have a knock and are played out of position. Weber would be the next choice for defense.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

So someone on Reddit made a thread titled "Where's Andrew Bynum" and inside I saw this vid(that I've seen plenty of times, it's just been a while since I saw it last):

He's basically eating everyone alive no matter how big they are and inching closer to the basket with every dribble.

Hassan's 265 right now and Bynum was 285. Drummond is 280 and is doing pretty well for himself when it comes to inching closer to the basket too. I feel like Whiteside in the post relies on his spin for seperation and his wingspan, while Drummond primarily uses his body. Drummond gets them off balance when he puts that shoulder into them a couple times. Should Hassan put on a little more weight so he can rely on his body more in the post? That 1 dribble spin can be predictable sometimes, but there's nothing you can do if he was a little bigger and just knocking the defender back little by little. He already has the potential to be a better version of Bynum since he's a better shooter but I think if he adds that weight (10-15 more pounds), it's a wrap. That spin he likes combined with his wingspan would be even more deadly since the defender will be off balance and further away when he starts to go up. His chances of making a hook would come down to his accuracy, not the defense played on him

Edit: Oh and is there anything Hassan can do to improve his quickness (not lateral)? By that I mean look how quick Bynum's shimmys and spins are (example at 1:00, 1:08, 1:31).
