Re: Andrew Bynum
Riley has made the best of his rosters by being patient and then making a move. Sometimes quality players pop up (birdman) sometimes not as successful (bibby). Either way, he attempts to fill holes with players that become available. Regardless of Bynum, lets see what happens come deadline and buyouts.

Questioning Pat Riley for not signing an unmotivated, injury prone, center who has been kicked from team to team is ridiculous. The man built back to back champions. Have a little more trust in him.

Re: Andrew Bynum
I think another move will be made when it comes to the Heat this team probably needs a decent athletic wing more then a big right now.

Miami basically letting him walk to Indy without even looking at him should tell everyone all you need to know as far as how concerned the organization is about this roster

LeBron, bosh and wade were always going to win.
Fitting the players around them was the easy part.
I'll give Rileys negotiation skills all props but they have never signed a player who wasn't an obvious fit to me, from Ray to Battier to Birdman. All obvious. Old guys trying to win rings before they retire? That doesn't require some genius plan, guys were flocking to sign here.
I' don't have to agree with everything Riley and Spo decide on like I don't have my own opinions.
Let me know how good you feel when all Pacers are doing is dumping the ball into Bynum, a player who has post moves, all game, and all you can do is watch because no one on your team can defend him.
Better pray Heat snipers are sniping

Everyone with common sense knows we need a defensive athletic wing but we always needed another center. Unless we are getting some young 7fter that can clean up the boards and defend, I'm not interested.

You got to remember last year they had Hibbert, West, and Mahimi killing us. This year it could be those guys plus Bynum AND Scola with Danny Granger off the bench. Bynum would be nice to have as a back up to Bosh, Andersen, and Oden, IF he's willing to take the minimum.
signing someone just to keep him away from another team is stupid, and a losers attitude. If we dont want bynum, dont sign him. Its that simple, who cares where he goes.
Not signing a player at a position you've needed to fill for years, for the minimum or even a LITTLE bit more, and letting that player go to the team that is ahead of you at the moment and manhandles you in the playoffs at the position is stupid. A line up of
Bynum/Bird/Oden Center by Committee
Bosh/Beasley
James/Battier
Wade/Allen
Rio/Cole
Defending the paint, rebounding, scoring in the paint, putbacks. Things we've sorely lacked....
But you feel comfortable of a power rotation of Bosh/Bird/Oden/Battier against Hibbert/West/Scola/Bynum/Mahimi? Call me crazy but this is a threepeat opportunity we have here, us losing this year can change our future. James may see better opportunities out there and there goes our Dynasty. We gotta go ALL in this year.

Re: Andrew Bynum
Personally I think Bynum has issues off court but this is Basketball/Business. It's for one year (half a year at that.) If it doesnt pan out, you send him home, you tried. BUT if it does pan out, you have a much better chance at the threepeat and if we play our cards straight this offseason and resign the big 3 to deals that give us flexibility (im looking at you D-Wade, my favorite player but his health is worrying) and get good role players that fit. We have a team that can be going for its 4th straight and possibly more. You DONT let that slip away.

I'm def on the sign bynum wagon, but there's no way I can blame riley and company for staying away from him. Dude basically embodies a jewel surrounded by a sea of red flags.

I can just see it now. "Unsung Hero Andrew Bynum helps the Pacers secure a trip to the finals with a miraculous 10 point, 12 rebound effort in only 20 minutes as the Indiana Pacers claim victory in game 7".
No Bynum, cool but don't get mad when LeBron's god mode isn't enough when the Pacers go to war on the frontcourt. A capable big has to be picked up and they passed one up. We'll see what happens at the deadline as far as trades and buyouts but don't hold your breath.

Re: Andrew Bynum
Question, did anyone ever think he may be trying to play the Heat's hand? Why did it take him so long to decide to have a meeting with the pacers? Chill, people sure do overreact alot on this team forum. Everything happens for a reason.

The Pacers official website and twitter are reporting this, if it's not already a done deal it is all but.

It's not even that we "Stayed away from him".
I think we would give him the veteran minimum if he calls Pat and says all the right things.
If he prefers to go to the Pacers for the same veteran minimum, then **** him.
He won't extort us for more then Vet minimum. And we shouldn't let him.
If the reason he's not coming here is because we didn't offer more money, it tells you everything you need to know about where his head and motivation is.
