The key is to have contributors worth their contracts. E.g. Crowder is an asset for Boston because he is a starter on a good contract. Dragic is an asset for us because he is a semi-star on a good contract. These guys are positive assets and are as good or better than cap space. I guarantee you that if we wanted someone tomorrow and were willing to move Dragic, we could either dump him or pick up a pick in the process at this point.
So as long as we sign Dion and JJ to at or below market deals (which they seem amenable to) and they produce in the vein of last seasons contributions, they are assets that a team will want to pick up. There is a price point at which either is probably a risk but at 8-10 for Dion and 10-12 or so for JJ is asset territory to me. Dion carries a little more risk to me because of injuries.
Part of my trepidation with Hayward and Griffin is they are asset risks at 30 mill a year. I.e. if they don't pan out completely, we would need to expend assets to move them later. Blake worries me most because injuries and defense are major risks. Hayward seems a safer bet, but I do have slight Szcerbiaks about him

Agree with this but I'd be surprised if either of Waiters or JJ took less than 12. JJ especially might have a few teams give him a look

If we can get Waiters and someone else I'm happy. I think this guy can blow up for us and then in 2018 we bring DWade to be his backup lol

Rudy Gay is so overrated and coming off an injury. Don't understand why y'all so thirsty for him. Heroball black hole who doesn't play team ball and only does one thing well, clutch buckets. He's a relic of early 00s NBA.

Those injuries though just can't be looked over.
No way I'd take him over JJ. JJ is impactful on both ends.
Edit: Plus he has your back:
People are going to be pissed we loose JJ and the move that caused it does lead to replacing him with an epic player.
My inner hope is we choose to keep JJ and UD with Bam and put our money elsewhere.
Don't want Gay, and don't want BG.

Re: Miami HEAT Offseason/Trades/FA Thread: Sardine Central
What if we landed Waiters, Johnson and Gallinari?
Whiteside/???/Bam
Gallinari/Johnson/Haslem
Winslow/Ellington/White
Waiters/Richardson/McGruder
Dragic/Johnson/???
I'd go to war with that team. Easily top 4 in the east

I really don't want to stretch Sob. He only has 1 year left, let's just get it over with and move on. I don't want to hear about his salary for the next couple of years.

Some act like adding Griffen over him would be an upgrade. I think they are out of their freaking minds. JJ has qualities and skills that Griffin doesn't and JJ is friends with the other guys. I'd be happy if when could him and Waiters. This treadmill talk is utter nonsense.

Re: Miami HEAT Offseason/Trades/FA Thread: Sardine Central
While i like JJ, he's nowhere near as good as Blake. There's a reason why Blake is an all star and JJ was almost out of the league had it not been for the HEAT. That reason is TALENT.
