Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
So the Celtics had to trade Marcus Smart for KP cause Brogdon is injured
I'm neutral on this, because I hated watching that flopper, but at the same time, he would hurt them with his play sometimes.

Sorry Grump missed it. The answer is probably slim to none. As a matter of fact that’s a prime landing spot for Strus.
oh ****, I forgot about Strus.
You're right.
They asked about Strus at the deadline. Most likely try to sign him with some form of MLE money. Sounds alot better then taking albatross 18 Duncan right?

Same thing Kuzma wants. That’s the going rate for scoring stretch 4’s.

He fell in the NBA TV mock into the 20’s. Surprised we didn’t work him out
There's been talk that he did work out for the Heat but nothing confirmed.

I can't understand why they traded their starting guard for KP and two first-round picks! Washington gets no picks. Very strange
If the Heat tries that trade, we must give four first-round picks plus a few Rolls Royce, and Mickey's jet.

Washington just doesn’t care he’s a rental and they are trying to tank so hard right now.

I’d probably be content with getting any affordable 1/4 combo, but give me Sexton /OG or Tyrus/OG and I’m superb

Feel free to take a long lunch and let's schedule the trade call for around 2:30.

Exactly, tank for what? No picks, no future. Or do they believe star players will sign there just to be close to the White House?

KP had a player option he had to opt in before midnight last night. That's why it went down to the wire. KP only opted in if it got him somewhere he wanted to go. Otherwise he'd opt out and seek a long term deal and Washington gets nothing. KP was not theirs. They facilitated the trade and got a v good young player out of it that they can keep long term or trade for other assets.
Washington gave Beal a NTC and got effed. And KP wasn't theirs to hold hostage and get best package.

Why would you give up your big man to get nothing back?
Isn't Porzingis with at least a First Round Pick?
Same with Beal... They received a few 2nd rounders. Why?
Suppose it doesn't feel like they are trying to tank. They would try to rebuild the team and acquire picks if it were to tank.
On the other side, Boston got a good deal: a Big man that can shoot and two first-round picks for Marcus Smart.
Our deals are always tricky compared to the deals the Celtics make.

We can’t talk about other guys making $30M per year when Lowry and Herro basically do lol! He’s better than both of them
