Riley will continue to build around Bam and Herro. Give up your hopeless pipe dreams of a tear down

KDs on the way

Our best player is already extended through 2029

Waiting another offseason for the Tyler extension which is smart imo

Sounds like he wasn’t to tinker the supporting cast as well.

Let’s get to it, should be a fun one.

What I heard:

- They need to make changes to win, be it philosophically or personal wise
- They build around Bam/Tyler, they are happy to have Herro and hope he can play his whole career here
- Getting out of the repearter tax is a priority

Sounds like they are running it back (meaning Herro/Bam are their best players)

Yeah, my big takeaway from that press conference is that we’ll be on the treadmill for the foreseeable future.

The need for the star to be "humble" part stood out and is a bit of a red flag, but that's Riley :nonono: . As long as he's in charge, whatever players (and even coaches for that matter) that we have--regardless of how talented--will always have to compete with this ego. It's known at this point and is what it is. I really wish he would have just kept that piece to himself though.

Anyway, all aboard the KD train. Hopefully it comes with a Sexton/Collins style trade as well. Though I fear we'd have to give up Ware go back to small ball to make it all happen

I don't think he meant the star has to be humble.
It was the answer in the context to whether they need alphas and what he meant is the personality doesn't matter, what matters is the production and impact on the court.

Yeah all the comments scream KD.

I also think fans should take his comments about Tyler and see this next season as a showcase of sorts. If Tyler can play at the level he played at that made him an allstar but sustain it for a longer period and also perform in playoffs hes probably getting that max extension. I think with 2026 cap space and free agents, if herro doesnt step up or durant doesnt mesh, he could be used in a trade.

I think Riley hopes herro delivers and herro gets a max, because in his mind that means herro performed well and got us to the finals or conference finals etc. I genuinely think Riley feels Herro can be a brunson of sorts.

Rozier, Duncan, Jaime and 2041 1st for KD?

That trims the roster down and keeps the ball in the hands of those who need it.

Load manage KD to where he only plays 2nd halves?

This board has been speculating about this all season. It was clear the Spoelstra was burnt out/dealing with personal issues.

I hope he can sustain his regular season play and it translates to the playoffs, I no longer really care what he does during the regular season if he’s just going to flame out and get hunted all game in the playoffs when the games really matter and the gameplans are on point.

I think the Heat will still plan on Free Agency in 2026 so another year of mediocrity then retool.

- Admitted to two years of tanking - 2003, and 2008.
- With tanking, said they would have never said they were tanking in those years, but they were. Then said they won't be tanking *wink*
- KD if the cost is not prohibitive and no 2 year extension (AKA we will not get KD).
- Tyler Herro, not an alpha yet, not a full max. We'll see what he is willing to take.
- Riley not ready to leave FO, Spo remains coach, but is burnt out, needs a break but probably won't.
- Hinted at they will have room space next offseason, hinted that there are still restricted and unrestricted FA out there but it's not the same, but if one shook free and we had the room, maybe we are talking (aka Luka).

Translation: Tyler Herro come to your senses on a below max extension and you and Bam can be 2-3rd or 3-4th bananas. We'll offer a lukewarm platter for KD, but it is unlikely to come off. We need to clear out Wiggins and ready ourselves for Luka, we'll see how healthy we are but if Bam, Herro and Spo want to take it easy and have some time off, let's get that top pick also.

C - Ware
PF - Bam
SF - Dybatsa
SG - Herro
PG -Doncic

Riley admits to tanking twice. In the Wade and Beasley drafts.

Edit-MCJ beat me to it.

I think the heavy Vladimir Stepania and Earl Barron minutes respectively gave it away, no?

Blake Ahearn anyone?
