^ Rashard said he would be coming back during the playoffs. He also said he envisions more playing time next season because this season was about him getting back into shape. :)

Nah, I don't think ray moves his family again. I expect him to either resign or retire.

I dont think hes going to head out there. He wants another ring and his best shot at getting that accomplished is here in Miami.

Why do people think that James Jones or Rashard Lewis would have opted out of their contracts? No other team would sign them, James Jones career would be over haha. Also Mike Miller isn't retiring, who just gives up 6 million for no reason. If and when we amnesty him, another team will sign him, he's still got some game left.

To answer another posters questions.

1. We can not amnesty Miller and then sign him for the vet min
2. We can not trade Miller and if he gets bought out sign him back (See Zydrunas Illgauskas trade to Washington, gets bought out and signed back with Cleveland, they changed the rule because of that)
3. He can not retire, forfeiting his money and then come back straight away, again why would he forfeit his money anyway.

FWIW

LeBron says playing with Heat for several more years intriguing

LeBron James' final interview session of the season revealed plenty, including that he's already feeling an itch to get back on the court and the thought of staying with the Heat beyond next season is more than intriguing.

"I know we have a few guys that have player options, team options, unrestricted free agents," said James, the Finals MVP. "We have a great team. We have a great nucleus, even with some of the guys that didn't play, just the camaraderie that they bring to our locker room. So we'll see. I think [Heat president] Pat [Riley] and those guys will definitely handle that first, but I would love to have all the guys back, and a couple for sure with Rio and Ray and Bird. They're a huge part of our team success. We'll see what happens."

Been reading the story on various outlets about how Lebron says he "doesn't know" yet about 2014. Everyone acts like it's a forgone conclusion he'll opt out and either sign a longer deal with us or with another team. But honestly, I could see him opting in and keeping his options open, especially if Wade and Bosh (who both stand to make much more those two years than on the open market) do the same.

If Bron opts in for the two years and stays healthy, he'll be 31 by the time 2016 rolls around. Would definitely still be able to command a four/five year max deal at the time, while finally taking smaller deals at age 35/36 as his career is winding down. If he opts out in 2014 and signs a max deal with us or somebody else, he'll be 33/34 when the contract expires, which at that point teams would be pretty reluctant to do another max. So even if he opts in or out for the two extra years, it appears he'll only have one true max deal in his future.

I guess the injury thing is the concern, but let's face it, as long as isn't anything that immediately ends his career, teams would still throw him the max at 31.

No way he doesn't opt out even if he signs back with Miami. It's a lock that he opts out. If he opts out he can sign a 6 year deal with a opt out after 3-4 years so why wouldn't he take the guaranteed money in case he gets injured rather than remain in his current contract where he would then only have 2 years left and could get hurt, hurting his next contract's value.

i think the most he can sign is a 5 year deal

What is this about Ray Allen likely not to OPT IN on Heat contract?

I was wrong in an earlier post...Ray Allen can opt out and resign for a contract higher than the mmle without us having to use our mmle
Our payroll is getting too big...we're going to have to use the amnesty provision IMO

My reasons for Lebron not opting out would be to keep flexibility and sign for as shortly as possible, aka try and align his free agency with the year Dwyane is most likely done and Bosh is leaving his prime (certainly seems it could be around 2016) and see if another team would give him a better chance at championships. Heck, Lebron may opt in just for 2014-2015, see if they win another title and if the Big 3 is still a Big 3, then choose to exercise the player option in 2015 accordingly. If he has any inkling of leaving, the fact he can effectively opt out in 2014 or 2015 (you know, once we lose) may be a big deal and something he'd want to keep.

But you're right, in my "Lebron keeps his options open" scenario, he probably would opt-out and sign a 2 or 3 year deal with us with a player option for the final year (under the new CBA, you're only allowed to have a player option for the final year of a contract.) Some of this depends on the salary cap and if the 35% of salary cap max for 10+ year players will be more or less than the 12.5% raises for 2014-15 and 2015-16 if he opts in.

All this mumbo jumbo is to say, I'd love for Lebron to opt out and extend with us for 5 years. But he does know, barring an immediate career ending injury like losing his head on Biscayne Blvd, he's the best player in the game and any team would give him the max 2 or 3 years from now. So a long-term contract, even with added financial security, may instead be viewed a burden in a quest for as many titles as possible.

I wish the Heat organization was more like the Spurs and the Patriots

The Spurs doesn't give a **** about anybody besides their Big 3, everyone else is expendable and can kick rocks.

Nobody on the Patriots matters besides Tom Brady, the Patriots will cut you before the Superbowl.

Heat has that atmosphere of, " We'll pay you just because we like you and you show up 4 games out of the season."

It does attract a lot of ring chasers because they know they gonna get a 3 year 5 million plus contract at the end of their career and they gonna get that money and really don't have to do anything for it. It's pretty much a vacation, you can chill, play 20 mins a night or not play at all.

It is very frustrating because it is clear nepotism and there are better players out there you can get and there is better use of roster space than hoarding team favorites like Joel Anthony for more than they are worth.

Heat are looking at a CBA designed to prevent 3 allstars that are max players from playing together. All this buddy buddy crap will pretty much just make the team old and cap stricken.

In the end, the Spurs and Patriots model seem to be the way to go, nobody else matters besides the engine, the tires, interior and the rims can always be replaced. And in the NBA you really have to think about getting the best youngest cheapest player possible because NBA contracts are guaranteed.

Heat are looking at a CBA designed to prevent 3 allstars that are max players from playing together. All this buddy buddy crap will pretty much just make the team old and cap stricken. Mike Miller contract can't end fast enough, he's a good 3 point shooter but so is James Jones and Ray Allen and they play the same position as MM. Birdman is good.

If you are a contender you really are better off just trading away every first rounder you get unless you really like the first round that year and get a 2nd rounder or an undrafted guy. You are better off developing talent as your contender is aging instead of recycling a bunch of 30 year olds.

No way the Spurs keep winning 50 games plus with how aged the Spurs Big 3 are without DeJuan Blair, Gary Neal, George Hill, Danny Green, Splitter and Leonard.

I don't mind at all Rashard and Jones staying. If we amnesty Miller, we may have a need for Rashard and his shooting if he indeed used this season to get back in shape.

JJ loves this team & I can't see him going any where else.

Rashard was a bit of a surprise for me. He must really like winning instead of playing. The dude still has game and could play for a few teams in this league. ITs not like he left money on the table, he could of opt'd out and come back for the same price. But I guess he figured if he opt'd out we would replace him and find someone else.

Hard to imagine Rashard staying if Ray was gonna leave.
