man this is shocking to me as well. Dwyane was one of my two favorite players (besides kobe) growing up and I always thought he would be a heat for life. I instantly fell in love in the 2005 playoffs where he balled out of his mind and never stopped following him from his legendary finals run in 2006 and one of the GOAT seasons 2008-2010. Seriously those 2 years he was the best player but its sad injuries hindered his career.

I really wish wade only had recruited bosh in 2010 and miami made moves for a decent big and pg. He could have had atleast 2 more final MVPs and a champion as the main star of the heat. At times he is a little bit too unselfish but that only speaks volume to his character both on and off the court. Skillset, talent, and killer instinct wise he is rivaled ONLY by kobe and MJ. Much respect to this legend and I hope he returns to the heat for a final season and score 60 in his last game like kobe did!

D-WADE you tha man!!

That's how I feel. I can't begin to sum up what Wade has meant. In a way, his career has given me the experience of a second childhood because I never expected to experience the same feelings I had as a kid when I was growing up and watching Jordan. But, Wade brought them back. Now he's going to MJ's team, but it still won't be the same.

To your question about Riley, the answer is one word: ego. People are referencing Wade's ego without acknowledging the monstrosity that is Riley's hubris. Play chicken with an all-time-great for enough consecutive years, and you will eventually lose. As Ethan said, Riley delusionally thinks he was the architect of the Decision. I'm sure he thought he was going to get Durant simply because he's Pat Riley. So he went all-in, and just like some of us predicted, he lost Wade in the bet too.

Just remember, if last year the Heat had given Wade the $45 M / 3 years he was seeking (they refused, so he signed the one-year, $20 M deal), Wade would be under contract for only $15 M annually for another two years.

Look.

Wade betrayed Riley and the Heat. It's that simple.

Lebron made a fool out of Riley based on petty perceived insults by Lebrons wannabe "Entourage" (HBO show). I really believe Lebron and his 3-4 turd friends give themselves names based on the characters from the show. Lebron thinks he's Vinny Chase, and the Rich Paul guy who's an agent now thinks he's Eric.... and one of the fat ones is probably Turtle. These guys are idiots and created real hatred towards Pat Riley for petty crap, and Lebron completely forgot about the 100 GOOD things that Pat Riley did for him, but he remembered the 20 "insults" he may have done by not giving Turtle all the free courtside seats so he can impress some girls.

When Lebron finally gave Riley a chance to talk to him, Lebron and his cronies had the TV on watching a sports game while Riley sat there talking to himself and Lebron interrupting Riley whenever players made a good play in the game. It was completely disrespectful and childish thing to do to Pat Riley by Lebron. Because of what? Because Riley didn't let Lebrons wannabe Entourage take over the Miami Heat team and Arena to do as they pleased? Lebron also had Riley, a 70 yr old man, flying across the country to "show him" the free agents he will sign..... even though Lebron knew all along he was leaving. Did you know that Pau Gasol was ready to come to Miami if Lebron stayed?

Then Lebron hurt the Heat's chances to sign Free Agents by dragging his decision out and smiling in Riley's face and acting like he's coming back, and then backstabbing us with a SI letter saying he's going to Cle.

And Lebron just destroyed Miami's championship run, a team that could easily re-tool a little and be back in the 2015 Finals and keep going.

Throughout ALL of this..... Dwyane Wade was kicking it with his best friend Lebron on vacations, plane rides, and such.

Now, imagine you are Pat Riley. You've been humiliated and disrespected by Lebron, an ungrateful ingrate who you protected from the media through 2010-2014, and who you built a team for so he could finally learn how to win....... and then this man **** all over you.

And then you turn around and see your old friend, your supposed "ALLY" DWYANE WADE hugging Lebron and acting like everything is cool.

Remember, this is PAT RILEY we are talking about. Mr. "WE DONT FRATERNIZE WITH THE ENEMY"...........

Imagine you are Pat, and after all this disrespect and humiliation you were put through, you see Wade acting like it's all cool with Lebron. And then Wade turns around and makes contract demands to you and calls you a bitch for not immediately giving in.

Brah, I wouldn't let anyone do ANY of my friends like that..... yet Wade didn't care how LBJ did Pat Riley and the Heat.

Come on brah.

Wade's a bitch.

Dear Mr. Wade,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see you play. Thank you for our three championships. Thank you for being the heart of the Miami Heat.

With the greatest gratitude,

I will always appreciate Dwyane for what he did for this franchise and for the championships. Right now I feel like a relative just left and I'm never going to see them again. It just sucks. Having said that, Dwyane is now the enemy. He is dead to me. I wish him the best. However, I am a HEAT fan first and foremost. In my opinion, if you aren't a HEAT player, you are an enemy.

Since I believe it is HEAT first and players second, I am disappointed but I am not upset about it from a basketball stand point. The cap is out of control. Luol Deng should not be getting a 70 million dollar contract. Hassan Whiteside should not be getting a 100 million contract. Dwyane Wade should not get a 46 million dollar contract. We offered him 40 million which I think is more than generous, and he turned it down because of ego. Pat on the other side, dropped the ball because of ego. Reports said that Pat didn't personally talk to him until a day or 2 ago. WTF. He should have called him at 12:01 on July 1st through one phone and called Hassan through another phone. It's millionaires and billionaires playing chicken, essentially. Throughout this process I've been thinking that maybe Dwyane leaving isn't the worst thing ever. He will essentially hold us hostage every time he has to renew his contract. He will slow down the rebuilding process like what happened to the Lakers with Kobe because of his prestige contract. If he would have signed the 40 mil contract, then great. Leveraging the teams future...not so great. Think about it. Dwyane plays 3 more years demanding basically max money. Finally he retires and we start the rebuilding process. It takes multiple years after that to build a formidable team. The good thing is we can start rebuilding now before Pat retires. We just need to know what happens with Chris Bosh now. We need to get rid of his contract to really go into rebuild mode.

Again, I am upset because I would have liked him to retire with us and be the first to play his whole career in Miami. However, from a basketball stand point, I am not upset.

As a side note: Udonis Haslem is now the only player from all 3 championship teams who is a HEAT lifer. If he leaves, it'll be a lot more depressing.

I think that's how Pat felt about Lebron  Wade was cool with it though and this is how it all ends.

Feel for you guys, I hope Dirk will ride it out with us, even though he would have every right to do what Wade did. We are so naive many times when we say that money doesn't matter to these guys anymore, but it always does. I mean, Dirk just signed for 20 million per season. I don't think it's actually about the money, as much it is about the respect that it represents.

brah... that's straight GOLD. Nice find.

Yeah.. Wade all offended over this....... but had nothing to say when Lebron's official meeting with Riley was Lebron watching a football game while Riley sat nearby and tried to talk to him about coming back to MIA.

This why I got no tears to shed for Wade. He chose Lebron over Pat and the Heat. Wade lost his moral compass somewhere in the past 5 years.

After putting what I put here, I actually made myself feel better. I put it into perspective for myself. We will be alright. My guess is that we will go after Russel Westbrook whether by trade this year or free agency next year. We have to sort out the Bosh situation. I personally feel like he should retire and I would love for his contract to come off the books. Either way, the Miami HEAT were around before Dwyane Wade and they will be around after.

He's a Heat lifer, but end of day he was a horrible businessman and was woken up. Market value it market value and you aren't staying for Aventura Mall and bland Cuban food.

Riley is one of the greatest ever, but he lost 2 of his big 3 due to ego. Don't be shocked to see Whiteside pull a DeAndre Jordan.

True legend and no matter what a Heat lifer.

As an outsider I'm in shock. I do kinda find it disrespectful of Riley to take Wade's loyalty for granted. He had Whiteside and Durant as bigger priorities over the best player in franchise history. I used to love Wade from 03-08 but he started turning me off when LeBron got in the picture. Dude is a champ though. I still can't believe it though, and to a garbage roster in the Bulls. Wow.

Good luck Heat fans. Hopefully you guys stretch Bosh so he can home home :D

You realize this is ridiculous logic right? Wade owes you because you bought tickets and "paid his salary"?

Do you owe the clients of the company you work for because they pay your salary? Dwyane Wade owes you nothing. He was paid to play for your favorite team, and now he's being paid to play for another one. That's how it works. Where would "loyalty" be if he busted his knee and couldn't play basketball anymore? Are you gonna mail him a check every week?

Ridiculous logic? No its a fact and let's stop with this crap that he got low balled. The guy was offered 40 million for 2 years. He owes the fans everything. The guy also has been injury plagued for the last several years so let's give him as much as he wants. Get outta here with that nonsense.

Yeah, let's fault Riley for attempting to turn our team into a title contender by bringing in the top free agent. Smh...show me one post here where one of you suggested The front office make Wade the top priority to sign? Good luck!

Lol at you salty azz fans. Wade is the GOAT heat player and arguably the GOAT player of south beach history. He's getting a statue regardless. To be completely the major positive in this is the rebuild process we werent any where close a title so now we can tank and obtain a top 5 pick and go from there. The negative is that this tarnishes the whole family, 'we'll take care of you' narrative the Heat have sold for years.

Trade Mcbob and Dragic for picks, re-sign Tj and tank for a loaded 2017 draft.

J-rich
TJ
Winslow

Whiteside

Should be fun. :)

Thanks Dwyane for the greatest 13 years of basketball that I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

It'll be strange to see you in a different shirt next season and terrible to see you opposing us on the court but if relationships have broken down I understand.

Have a great life, look after your kids and remember how the Heat fans adored you.

it was YOUR HOUSE.

Hope you get a statue outside the arena.

Now onto the next young guns.

Didn't expect it at all but big players have also big egos so I gues he felt disrespected when Riley after the season didn't come to him first. We will never know what exactly happened between them but Riley probably thought that Wade will stay. He was wrong.
Thanks for everything.
