Sucks for McCain. Having to guard NBA level talent can be hard on the body.

Marc Stein is Cuban's lackey. He's just piggybacking on everything. Are the Heat possibly listening to offers on Butler sure. Do I think the Heat are going to be offered anything substantial to make a move... No. I believe these teams that are interested in him are going to continue to be pressing this issue in the media in order to try and get the Heat to fold and sell him on the cheap. The Heat are not going to do this. Butler has a few options. 1. Opt in for one more year at 50 million. 2. Use the Nets as leverage in the offseason since they are the only team with significant cap space to sign him but do they really want to do that? 3. Signs 4 year cap friendly deal with us that keeps him here into his age 39/40 season and retires in Heat jersey 4. Get under the first apron and do a S&T possibly scooping up some assets. Unless the relationship is strained beyond repair which considering Butler's agent coming out doing damage control and Jimmy... well you know if Jimmy really wanted out he's not going to be holding back no punches I think in the end he truly wants to retire here and both sides meet in the middle to make it happen.
What would constitute a "cap friendly deal". Jimmy at 4 years $20 million per is a $20 million sinkhole in our cap for 2 to 3 years.
How is that cap friendly?

Yes, absolutely. Bam is a popular player among the stars to play with cuz he's a beta. A great one for sure. He doesn't demand the ball and covers for everyone on the defensive side. A great guy to play with for sure. So, unlike some who worry about not getting a star if we trade Jimmy, I don't really worry about that at all. Someone will force their way to take that alpha spot that Butler vacates

The discussion of getting bam another star to play with is a lost cause. This isn’t 2010 anymore, it’s draft a franchise player or nothing.

Hopefully he doesn't make the mistake of having his meniscus removed.

I'm sure Bam is alpha on other things

That’s just simply not true, we didn’t draft Jimmy.

Hate that Wades career was abbreviated due to this.

I mean that’s a fairly cheap upgrade. Good business by the Dubs. I still wouldn’t have liked his fit here though.
We need either a truly elite PG, or a 3&D. Schroder is neither IMO.
He’s definitely 3 and D with really good playmaking, that’s a great pick up for the warriors he’s become underrated at this point. As MWP said this probably kills the DFS idea

It's doable. You just have to have plenty of assets that other teams want ... and the willingness to trade them.

I think the warriors are aiming big, they just made a huge pickup and kept all their 1sts and Kuminga. They can swing big and they’ll be monitoring Jimmy and LeBron

Their 1sts r interesting. Isnt Kuminga just a glorified inefficient athlete?

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Beenie just mentioned Lonzo, I mentioned that idea a few weeks ago as well. If anything he’s expiring. We’ve been discussing Schroder/DFS and Sexton/Collins additions but the Bulls have a somewhat similar package in Lonzo and Vucevic. It would be interesting and honestly don’t care to swap Terry out with Lonzo considering Lonzo is expiring

Butler trade is an anomaly. 100% no team will ever be dumb enough to let a player of that caliber go for pennies on the dollar ever again

I’m not sure tbh he has massive games and stretches for them but can’t seem to gain the confidence in their coaching staff to be consistently relied on but on the other hand their FO has shown no willingness to move him in the past.
I think they have the same issue as our FO in being delusional in some of their guys like Kuminga and Podz

Which the Heat basically don’t have. There’s already many teams waiting in the weeds for a star to become available with much more ammunition than we have. Have to remember also that the Heat value their own assets way higher than other teams do since there’s somewhat of a buyer beware on our players

LeBron only gets moved if he wants to be moved. I have a hard time seeing that happen. He wanted to be in LA for a reason.
And I don't think the Warriors have the assets to land both him and Bronny.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
What do you all think about the idea of Jaime fetching 2 1sts from a team with loads of 1st round picks? Someone like OKC who could easily fit him into their salary cap to bolster their depth and young core and have like 16 1sts. Utah, SA, Houston also have double digit picks and are building young cores, why not take the sure thing in Jaime?
Also, depending on the years of the picks could it potentially give us 4 tradable 1sts?
