Heat should feign outrage. See where it gets us.

But we all know how great it is Rozier will not be wearing a heat uniform again. What a gift.

In all seriousness, maybe you're right but his did occurr while he was playing for you guys. If the FBI discovers your FO knew about this and traded him to us anyway...well, we'll cross that bridge if/when we get there.

Think about what you’re typing for a minute…. Why would the Hornets knowingly do that?

Great question. "Four teams were mentioned in the illegal sports gambling investigation as being bet on - the Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, and Portland Trail Blazers."

Apparently the DOJ is investigating them now so...why indeed would they do this.

Yeah I'm gonna need that pick back + more.

That only works if we weren't informed about the investigation. The investigation into him concluded in January of 2023. We acquired him on January 23, 2023. Unless we weren't informed of the investigation, which I find hard to believe, it looks to me like we waited for the results of the investigation before making the trade.

The Hornets and the league would have had to have kept the information from us in order for us to get our pick back.

We're not getting our pick back.

The Miami Heat were not informed about the investigation:

Does this change things? Give us the pick and rig it for us to draft 1st or collude to bring us Giannis. :)

And the Hornets are one of four teams being investigated by the DOJ now...but you know how it is; allegedly/apparently. We'll see how it plays out.

Would be interesting to know if Charlotte knew something was going on and swept it under the rug.

Now that could work in our favor.

Honestly man, between the following:
-the Clippers being able to get away with blatant salary cap circumvention
-an active coach involved with the mob (!!!)
-a player getting arrested by the FBI for rigged betting on his games

I’m really starting to lose interest in the league given how obviously corrupt it is. That’s not even getting into the NBA knowing about the Rozier stuff and sweeping it under the rug while allowing us to dump a first for that loser.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't stop imagining what the actual deal would have been for a corruption-free Rozier. Like if Riley gave up a 1st rounder for someone under federal investigation, would it have been 3 1st rounders if we got non-injury-faking Rozier?

Charlotte has to have hidden it from us. Right? RIGHT???

I agree with what you’re saying however the nba has long lost its luster. It’s no coincidence it’s sucked since Adam Silver took over. He’s been appealing to the least common denominator fan since day 1

It doesnt matter and it wouldn't help us because it would expire at the end of the season when his contact expires. It's not something that will make us magically a contender, it would be the same expiring value that Terry has, his value is the expiring contract and an arrest doesnt change that value. If team X wants to get out of long term salary they will still be interested in Terry the expiring, not Terry the player unfortunately for us.

Explains a lot of Rozier's behavior.

I wonder if he continued doing it while in a HEAT jersey. That'll be fun.

I disagree on Danny Granger he wasn't expected to be that much of needle mover, his pick up was similar to the Rashard Lewis one.

I also disagree with Mcroberts because he was picked up with the belief we would have retained Bron. Had Bron stayed he would have been a nice complementary piece. The moment Bron left it was doomed to fail.
