Taking out the head up aspect and focusing on skill alone, oh she can shoot my lights out - and I’m no scrub. Its absolutely not a push to think someone like Bam couldn’t pick up a few things from Aja, you give him her offensive skills with his athleticism and you get KG.

To speak seriously for a moment, if you ever actually got to witness the skill set of a professional player in practice, they all look like KG (the ones that aren’t strictly 7 foot plus only there for height, anyways). What separates these guys is their ability to do it against competition, and make snap decisions, not their ability to hit jumpers or make nice post moves in an empty gym. Nobody is saying female players can’t be skilled, but the assumption that they’re more skilled than a Bam because they can do things against competition that doesn’t even compare to high school mens teams is wild. I’m with 3ammy on this one, you guys are wildly underrating Bam if you don’t think he’d dominate a skills competition in an empty arena. I’d go so far as to say Bam is so skilled as a big that that’s where a lot of some fans frustrations with him lie, because they can see potential for more.

Why we as Heat fans are pushing a narrative that Bam isn’t skilled is beyond me. He is quite literally one of the most skilled and versatile bigs in the league and has been for several years now. Comparing him to his girlfriend is just dumb and lazy. Aja is a great basketball player (for a girl) and she is obviously skilled (for a girl). Hell, she may be the best woman’s basketball player ever, she has an insane resume but Bam would skunk her if he really wanted to. It’s also dumb to compare the 2 because as you said she’s playing against other women and she has a significantly bigger advantage in her size and athleticism compared to her competition than Bam does as well. She’s a monster of a woman.

I’ve been telling you **** on Bam is the popular thing to do on here majority of the time, you’re seeing a little bit of it these last few pages and I’m sure it’ll pick up as we get into the season. I guess everyone is still mad about his early season struggles after the busy summer.

He is what he is (and that's not a bad thing). The issue lies in the people that go on rants if you criticize him in any fashion.

I totally forgot about this, but great illustration of the point, these guys are insanely skilled when they're alone in a gym.

Nah this is where you lose me and take it too far. Comparing him to a WNBA player and suggesting they can teach him some skills is ludicrous and shows a complete disrespect of the level guys in the NBA are at. But Bam on the whole is loved on this board and most of the negative reaction comes from people bristling at fair criticisms.

When people get mad at Bam, its because they think he's a top 30 player that could be top 10 if he locked in completely. That's a compliment if anything. When people get mad at, for example your favorite punching bag, Tyler Herro, its because he's a top 40-50 player and they're mad that he'll never be more than that. Which is a different kind of criticism.

I think there's a balanced take somewhere in there... we can root for Bam to reach his peak potential but also accept how great he already is. And we can be content that Tyler has probably reached his peak, and not resent the fact he doesn't have another level he can reach (if/when he gets a max contract above like 45 million per year, I'll be on board with harsher criticism of him).

He’s going to take a big leap this year.

Not to make this into a Bam vs Herro conversation, but if getting the right WNBA player (to enhance basketball skills) as your significant other, who would be the best option for Herro?

Sabrina.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?
