So I am going to circle back - we should have just tanked for a better pick and the small hope that we landed the #1 in the lottery. Or some other high pick. Crazier things have happened.

Something like Chicago having the 9th worst record and winning the lottery when the #1 consensus just happened to be local Chicago kid Derrick Rose? I wouldn't be surprised if there's a way for the league to push picks to certain teams.

Jimmy and Bam refuse doing that ****. Always.
They just want to collect checks and nothing else.

2006 Finals + championship = Wade's talent attracted Shaq. Pat doesn't get Shaq without Wade.

i clearly remember Shaq saying he watched rookie Wade take it to Baron Davis in the playoffs, and he impressed Shaq. Thats why Shaq wanted Miami and why he told Pat he would come here with the intention of signing an extension on his contract

I think most of us aren't really that in love with Beal, the problem was he looked like the only realistic option to really upgrade our biggest need - creation and scoring.

If the front office can find another path to make the team significtlly better - that be awesome.

The problem is - last off season showed that there isn't necessarily a plan B. I can't think of one.

And running it back is simply unacceptable. It's just....no way man.

If there’s a path to Kyrie/OG, I say we swim hard towards it.

But Kyrie is only a little more likely than Dame, who is very much out of reach.

If we strike in the off-season, we can always remain hopeful for an implosion in Dallas, Portland, Atlanta or etc. We got a good front office here, we’re never out of the game

2011-2014 Finals appearances + 2 championships = Wade recruited Lebron and Bosh
2020 Finals, 2023 Finals = Wade recruited Jimmy Butler to Miami for us

Which goes to show me that FO can’t do it alone just like players can’t do it alone. However we don’t hear Jimmy and Bam recruiting players. If the two main players aren’t telling other guys how great this place is, why would anyone want to come? If they aren’t talking about how a guy would fit and how they’d play together, why wouldn’t they go somewhere they may also like and where the players are talking to them and sharing how they could get it done?

We do have a very good front office, however, sometimes they are too stubborn and stuck in their ways. Don’t get me wrong, as much as this off season and last have sucked, I’d still take our FO over the Nets, Sixers, Suns, etc.

And for the record, our FO was right in waiving Mike Miller from a basketball standpoint. Once he was done here, he never played at the same level as 2012 and 2013. What they missed is that he was the glue guy between the different groups we had in the roster and that hurt chemistry.

I'd be interested in knowing the extent to which Herro was ever even mentioned or considered in any trade discussions with the Wizards.

I know the report is that Miami wasn't willing to include him, but I wonder how Washington valued him.

Miami seemed dead set on only doing a deal for Beal if it was the optimal salary dump on our end.

I'm just getting over the fact that there seemed like a reasonable path to upgrade our starting SG (from Herro to Beal) AND backup PG (from Lowry to Wright) without giving up any future assets, and that path is now gone.

He definitely does have more value. I just wonder how Washington would have taken to him being in the trade. I'm very uncertain as to his trade market, and just distraught that a bargain upgrade deal was missed.

I hope it was based on more than just blind hope by the Miami FO

2. Chris Haynes is good friends with Lillard and has been the guy to report on every Lillard milestone or tidbit.
3. Lillard isnusually very unfront about matters and his comments should be taken to the bank about him wanting to stay but if they dont decide to head in that dirrection he will want out.
4. Miami assets are trash, max in a single trade is 3FRP's and Herro, which they view as trash.
5. There are suggestions of a third team giving Portland 2 more picks in exchange for Herro, but he doesnt believe such a team exist at this moment that falls under that category.
6. However portland may get a trash return, maybe not Miamis current trash but mildly trash from another team.
7. Portland will do right by him, and fans should be ready to see a trash return.

Just because the Heat's FO values him a lot doesn't mean he is valued by other GMs.
If you are a contender his contract is ridiculous and you rather have 2 role players instead.
If you are rebuilding, you don't want to rebuild around Herro, he's a limited defender and not an elite scorer.

Only teams who think he can singnificantly improve his offensive skill set and efficiency would take a gamble on him, I think the market is very limited.

Thanks for sharing. I'm increasingly concerned about the bolded in point #5.

More teams will come out of the woodwork if a Lillard trade becomes real.
