If we signed Whiteside and Harrellson, we'd be at the maximum 20:

1. LeBron
2. Wade
3. Bosh
4. Allen
5. Chalmers
6. Battier
7. Lewis
8. Miller
9. Haslem
10. Cole
11. Joel
12. Jones
13. Pittman

non-guaranteed:

14. Harris
15. Varnado
16. Gladness
17. Dozier
18. Temple

in town but not yet signed:

19. Whiteside
20. Harrellson

If this was the training camp roster, I would be in favor of keeping

1.Lebron
2.Wade
3. Bosh
4. Allen
5. Chalmers
6.Battier
7.Lewis
8.Miller
9.Haslem
10.Cole
11.Joel
12.Harris
13.Varnardo
14.Whiteside
15.Harrellson

Who the hell is Garret Temple?

Also, I wonder why we are not giving Birdman much consideration right now, considering the bigs we know that are a part of our training camp currently.

Pretty sure Garrett Temple had a solid game against us when he was with Houston the season before, too. I like him, and could definitely see him beating out Harris if the Heat were willing to pull a cold one on Terrel. Hey, its business.

Didn't I tell you guys Pittman's weight has been fluctuating in the pros? I believe someone tried to argue against me. There it is, guys. Dex is not committed enough for my taste. Goodbye. Hopefully we finally rectify the mistake of the 2010 draft and bring Hassan home for good. He should've been developing here these past two years. I know he's raw as hell, but so was Joel. We won't be able to find a guy with his physical tools anywhere. Its worth a shot to see if he can do anything here. Pitt was a failed experiment. Let's move on. I'd even dump Pitt for low-ceiling Madness.

Haha, I was just narrowing down my final 15, and it looks like we're identical except Dozier for Varnado.

Chalmers / Cole
Wade / Allen / Harris
James / Battier / Miller
Haslem / Lewis / Dozier
Bosh / Anthony / Whiteside / Harrellson

That team would be so athletic and versatile from top to bottom. The non-athletic players make up for it with skill. Dropping Jones lowers our age, and dropping Pittman focuses our game more on speed and versatility. (Whiteside can even guard the perimeter)

If Lewis replaces Haslem in the starting lineup so UD can play backup C, while Whiteside and Harrellson prove their worth, perhaps Joel might be moved in favor of PG insurance. People suspect they might want to alleviate themselves of his contract.

Lot of ifs there, but just hypothesizing.

Just curious, what's the rationale for keeping Terrel Harris over Jones? I'll take Jones' 3-point shooting over anything Harris brings. I agree with the rest of the roster though.

Chris Anderson has been away from basketball for a while. Who knows if he showed up out of shape and that's why he's not invited yet.

Any follow up or reports on us signing him after the workout????

If he turns out to be at-least a DeAndre Jordan, it would be a great addition..

A big athletic body to go with shot blocking.. Anything he gives on the offensive end would be bonus..

He is working out for the Heat again tomorrow. This time it will be in front of Pat Riley and Spo.

Great news... hopefully he cracks into our 15 and works his way into some good amount of playing time.. I like the small ball approach, but that should be kept as a weapon to be used only when necessary..

Besides a young athletic center like him would help Bosh and Bron move to their natural positions and not put undue strain on them.. we need the team to be fresh and healthy till the very end..

Upside. Jones name should almost never get called with the Ray-Lewis additions. Terrel is also a solid shooter, and more to my point, he can learn a lot from Ray. I'd rather see us use all three of our suits on developing players from now on. Terrel to me works just as well, if not better, as an insurance wing than Jones, even, at least to me. He has more facets to his game and can guard more positions. That 14 rebound game in ATL showed he can contribute in other ways, and as we saw early on last season, he can get very hot from 3.

The beauty is Hassan still fits the versatile, positionless-ball we want to play since he's quick enough to cover at least 3 positions on switches and has played a PF, face-up role on offense at times (at least in college). I'm really getting my hopes up about us holding onto him. It would be awesome if he can be what I think he can be.

My bad, I'm reading the quote and I'm wondering where Ira says Miami is considering eating his contract and Gladness is ahead of him in the depth chart.

actual quote:

A: All I know is I spoke to an agent who said Pat Riley expressed disappointment to him about Dexter Pittman's inability to reach prime conditioning. Look, this team ate Eddie House's contract last season, so it's not as if a minimal guarantee is a complete guarantee. When rating the Heat's big men, it seems as if Gladness already is held in higher esteem among the coaching staff, so it could come down to Pittman working his way back onto the roster. An argument could be made that Josh Harrellson and Hassan Whiteside also would add more than Pittman.

This blue is Ira speculating; he doesn't mention that the agent or a source told him that. Ira isn't exactly too fond of Pittman, either. It's like reading a Woj article about LeBron and the Heat.

Me too bro... We should have taken him over fat-ass pittman.. I don't think he will have the maturity issues and all in Miami.. with Riley, Spo, the work ethics, being surrounded by Bron, Wade etc... not to mention being the champs..

I heard that the guy had put on muscle and increasing his lower body strength etc.. I think it was at the summer league or so.. I can't seem to find that report now.. Would be real nice if he could bang down low and at-least limit dwight's offensive production..

Hate to be a downer, but you can't possibly be excited about Hassan Whiteside.

Guy literally doesn't know how to play basketball. Defend three positions? Hold his own against Dwight? LOL

I die a little inside every-time I realize that we have Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman as centers...
How bad can an athletic 7 footer compared to these two???

ethan skolnick also tweeted that pittman was in danger and would be fighting to keep his spot during training camp. the beat writers always have their sources in the team they're covering.
