Hand under the ball or not he was getting open with the step back regardless. Hand placement didn’t effect the move at all but yea by rule it’s a carry, unfortunately they don’t call that 95% of the time.

It effected the defender's response, had he picked up the ball like you're supposed to when you put your palm up under the ball and pushed it upward... Lopez was at the very least in a position to contest the shot with his hands up.

Who knows what % of the time he and other players are getting away with this when they do that particular step back move.

Lopez played the drive so he didn’t play as if Haliburton was going to pick up the ball like he should have lol it had no effect, he was getting that step back regardless.

Yes we don’t know the exact percentage, you know damn well these dudes carry and travel all the time.

He played for both the shot and the drive, it's why he put both hands in the air to contest the shot (there's really nothing else you can do that wouldn't put you in a position to foul the shooter) before bringing his arms down because he saw that he wasn't picking up the ball although he carried it like he was. A contested shot is a usually a worse shot than an uncontested shot.

This image is AFTER he had already carried the ball and was repositioning it to dribble again.

I don't know if Miami could fix him, and it would be expensive in assets to find out. One thing he needs is a vet he respects to steer him in the direction of doing things the right way during his career.

I stated before Zion got drafted that the team drafting him has a very short window to win a chip with him as a lead player. It may been shorter than I thought. Hasnt been a big enough window for one whole season.. His window may already be closed or closing

Talen Horten-Tucker has been the biggest mystery iv ever seen. He has always been a trash NBA player and gets minutes and got a raise a few years ago.

The Hawks have got be hurt watching him razzle dazzle for Dallas.

In hindsight, its hard to imagine having 5'10" Young and 6'7" Luka in front of you with all the info available, and choose the wrong guy.
