Observations from Sunday's 104-94 loss to the Lakers at AmericanAirlines Arena:
*
Got to admit, the faster style of play made you occasionally look up and take notice.
*
Just don't ever look at the standings. Nothing to see here folks; just keep moving along.
*
Sustaining play at such a pace is the next challenge, although the finish certainly was frantic.
*
Shawn Marion wants nothing more than to be a small forward; so Pat Riley started him at power forward.
*
Udonis Haslem can't get back soon enough for Marion.
*
Does Marion really need to be subjected to Ricky Davis?
*
Does Mark Blount?
*
Marion must have felt right at home, with the Heat offering little defensively for extended stretches.
*
The Lakers offered the latest example of how much the Heat lacks outside shooters.
*
It certainly seemed this was a game that called out for Daequan Cook.
*
The Kobe/Wade debate is no longer a debate, and might never be again.
*
Bryant remains far more economical and efficient in his game.
*
Kobe did seem to take pleasure in bouncing around Wade, even at the cost of a few fouls.
*
And he flat out humbled Wade at the end of the third quarter when he first forced Wade to over-dribble and then travel.
*
All the while, the turnovers continue to mount for Wade.
*
-Blount just might be creating trade value. The national exposure didn't hurt.
*
If Wade doesn't get to the foul line, such deficits on free throws will continue.
*
A 5-on-1 fastbreak in the third quarter, Heat down seven, and Jason Williams shoots and misses 3-pointer that bounds out of bounds. Ugh.
