I go back to us using Dwyane to talk to CP3 about agreeing prior to the trade about opting out of his final season. If he wants out of OKC now and doesn't want to waste his final years in OKC, then those are the terms of us trading for him. I'll take two seasons of an aging CP3 on this roster if the plan otherwise is to wait until 2021 for Beal.

If we get CP3 our 2021 and 2023 picks in return for Dragic, JJ and Robertson and Maten under the agreement that CP3 opts out in 2021 to allow us to add to the team to give him one last shot at a ring then I'd make that deal.

CP3/Winslow/Nunn
Herro/Waiters
Butler/Okpala
DJJr/Olynyk/UD
Bam/Leonard

That roster for two seasons plus having our FRP's in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 while also retaining the ability to add a major free agent in 2021 sounds good to me.

We can rest CP3 as much as we need in regular season and go with the original plan of Point Justise in the mean time.

If your friend came up to you and told you to leave $40 mill on the table, would you?

Chris is picking up that option. We have to accept that reality I feel.

Woj says the market for Chris Paul begins and ends with Miami.

Didn’t get Westbrook, but didn’t trade the future of the organization for a player that would still not get the Heat a good shot at the championship.

Well done. Thanks for the save from Iggie.

Ps. not for the CP3 tradel just tired of the same arguments.
I like your point but Russ is just not the better fit on the squad. I remember too vividly when Dion can get to the rim but will pull up in pressure to a bad shot, or hold onto the ball too long. Russ has his share of those moments, despite his spectacular athleticism, Tenacious competitiveness and 'give it your all' attitude that would match Jimmy & be infectious. But I'd rather have Goran catch it from a Jimmy drive and pop, or pump fake and then create.

I don't think there is any amount of money that would prevent CP3 from a chance at getting a ring before he retires. If he is staring down the barrel of a rebuild in OKC the rest of his career getting paid 124mil or another chance at rings the next three years for $80mil plus whatever we can give him on the cheap after that I think he takes the chance to compete for less money honestly.

Ughh I think Riley is gonna get CP3. I’m already accepting it. It better not include any of the young guys and they better get at least one of their picks back.

Give back our picks OKC. We have to keep Goran too in this deal, I want his expiring contract here so we can flip it on another trade.

We got our dog, and we have the cast to support him. Dragic is such a good catch and shoot guy now, I don't understand why are we even considering trading him. Keep him & I'm pretty sure he'll sign for less money next year & maybe Dragic will be the one to recruit (Doncic?) 2 years from now.

The Russ trade would have felt good, but it would have been getting that good good from that girl you shouldn’t have type feel. Where you feel good in the moment, but afterwords you just feel bad about it and it and the after effects linger on for far too long. You could say we dodged a bullet, some might say we missed an opportunity. As of right now I’d say neither can be for sure. If 1 of our young guys explode on the scene as a legit star staring at you Winslow and Herro this day will be remembered as the day we dodged the bullet.

If not we will look back in disgust at the run that could have been.
I agree with you . I'm not telling folks to chill if they wanted Russ. Or that they would be wrong. I can't argue what the next man wants. I just feel we're better off w/out Russ or CP

They can trade Paul by himself with no other players attached.

Fans are going to be so pissed if and when this trade happens. They are setting their expectations way too high. People think that OKC traded Westbrook to Houston for CP3 + picks just so they can trade CP3 + picks to us for our trash.

Presti isn't playing games. He is demanding assets with every trade, and getting them.

Yeah you are probably right. But if someone offers pick/s and expiring contracts for CP3 I'm officially done with this league. Dallas is probably a good bet. Hardaway Jr, Lee and cap space for CP3 makes more sense than what we can offer, and knowing those scumbags they would do it just to spite us.

Yep! Dallas makes perfect sense, and would complete the circle that started with the failed Dragic trade.

In my opinion at this point Dragic is better than Paul

Backed himself into s hole with the CP3 thing tho. Can’t think of many teams that will even want him on their team, let alone trade good assets for him.

No way Presti does that deal without speaking to someone about taking on Paul. I bet when we had discussions with OKC we lined something up, this will be resolved quickly. Miami will most likely get Paul imo and probably get back our 2021 pick and leave the 2023 pick there that’s already restricted.

Apparently OKC didn’t want to have the Westbrook trade lingering too long and that’s why they pulled the trigger quickly on it, well they just got into another position where trade rumours are going to be lingering again. Paul won’t be there long, I fully expect there to be another announcement in a day or two about this actually being a 3-team trade and most likely we will be the third team.

Return to Miami Heat
