2) Would take Sexton for Herro +
3) Would look to move Precious for a better fitting player on a rookie deal
4) Would rather get a more versatile player then Robinson if he cost more then 14 per. Unless we get a stud scoring PG. If not, S&T Duncan.
5) we need BIG CHANGES
6) We need Bam and Jimmy to start shooting
7) Spo need new assistants

I don't want to pay Nunn either.

I think if Precious is moved somewhere he can play a significant role his production might surprise a lot of people here. But I'd be okay letting him walk we can get what he brings our team from a Vet Min guy.

I say pay Robinson no matter what, unless you can sign and trade him. We aren't going to be operating as a team with cap space so we are far better off giving him a payday now rather than letting him walk. He might be difficult to move but we can at least get something in return if we keep him and move him later rather than nothing and no cap room to sign anyone else.

I don't think Jimmy needs to but Bam certainly needs to start adding it to his game. if Bam is a consistent threat from deep that brings a whole different dimension to this team.

There are a ton of guys who we could target to bolster our roster with the MLE and BAE this offseason. I'd be very surprised if we don't come away with a couple solid role players out of this FA.

Names I'm intrigued by as either MLE, BAE or Vet Min guys. (Not in order)
JJ Reddick
Tony Snell
Doug McDermott
Reggie Bullock
Derrick Jones Jr
Josh Richardson
Nicholas Batum
Derrick Rose
Patty Mills
Elfrid Payton
TJ McConnel
Cameron Payne
Reggie Jackson
PJ Tucker
JaMychal Green
Bobby Portis
Markieff Morris
Serge Ibaka
Nerlens Noel
Willie Cauley Stein

Add any combo of those guys plus whatever moves we make with trades and retaining our own guys, I think we can put a solid squad together.

Heat get - Kristaps, Sexton, JRich
Cavs get - Herro, Tyrell Terry, Dwight Powell and pick swaps
Mavs get - Love, Dragic, Iguodala

Sexton/Nunn/Vincent
Duncan/Ellington/Strus
Jimmy/JRich
Bam/Precious/KZ
Kristaps/Dedmon

The Cavs and Mavs both day hell no. The Cavs will want unprotected picks to get the conversation started. The Mavs just got a new coach and odds are high they can sign Dragic for cheap after we release him ( dumb strategy but we want Lowry, maybe it’s a Butler demand?)

Dragic is on a team option and I highly doubt we are going to function as a team with cap space so we won't be releasing him.

And I don't think Cleve would do the hypothetical swap for Herro but not for the same reasons that are being proposed.

With Garland already on their roster, bringing in Herro is redundant.

Also, it's entirely possible that Clev drafts a guard which would further motivate them to want to move Sexton for a non guard.

Sexton has a reputation of being immature and difficult to coach. He's also about to get paid.

I personally wouldn't trade Herro for him.

What makes you think that replacing 6'1 Sexton for 6'5 Herro to play next to the 6'1 Garland would be redundant? I'd say Garland and Herro are more complimentary players than Garland and Sexton are. Garland is a more natural fit at PG and Herro at SG. Sexton is a short combo guard but would play PG for just about every team. If Cleveland can get Herro then they wouldn't need to draft a guard. Plus Cleveland just drafted the SG Isaac Okoro last draft so doubt they'd be drafting a 4th young guard to add to their roster.

You evoke height but height is irrelevant in this case because Herro is a terrible defender. Sexton may not be an elite defensive player but he’s far from inept which is what Herro is.

Your point about Okoro, if he in fact is being primed to play SG, only makes this potential swap a more dubious idea.

Regarding who the Cavs might draft, best guess will be BPA regardless of position which likely means a guard so trading Sexton for Herro only to draft a guard when they already have Garland and Okoro would be redundant and it lacks vision.

And I’m not sold on Garland being the primary ball handler but I’m also open to having my mind changed on that point. We’ll see what he does with the reigns if they are indeed given to him.

Number one thing I want to see from Bam during the Olympics. I want to see him use his jumper to draw defenders out of the box. And then counter with penetration off the dribble

If we're going this route then there's no point in keeping Jimmy. We won't be winning anything and Butler will only lose value with every passing season.

Yes. This is what I believe too. We should try to auction Jimmy and get something for him. It will be better for him too if we can trade him to a real competitive team.

Which teams would you be looking at, gom?

Golden State
Denver
Portland

I also like the Knicks as a target but I will not trade Jimmy Butler to the Knicks.

Do you have trade packages in mind? I liked the idea of Wiseman and #4 from GSW, but 7 and 14 much less.

Donovan Mitchell is a real favorite of mine. I think Sexton would really flourish in Miami. I doubt our bid would be higher than many other teams though, so we don't have much of a real chance right now. We cannot afford Sexton. Might be better to wait. I would still trade Butler though. My ideal trade with the Warriors would be:

2021 FRP Minnesota (#7)
2023 FRP Golden State (which will allow us to trade future picks without reservation)
Jordan Poole
James Wiseman
Andrew Wiggins

for Jimmy Butler (who is essentially an expiring)

We may be able to get more draft compensation. This is the minimum and what I perceive as a fair deal for both sides. Warriors become a favorite for the championship.

I'd likely draft Jalen Johnson, keep Herro, resign Robinson & Nunn to trade later. If I could swing Herro & Achiuwa (who would be redundant) for Sexton, of course I'd do it.

How about flipping the 7 to Cleveland for Sexton? Or do you like JJ more potentially?

What specifically would you add to #7? I think Herro plus 7 may be an overpay.

I think #7 could be considered quality value. I'd do Nunn and #7, but that's as far as I'd go, and I think that's an overpay based on Cleveland being sellers in a potentially weak market.

Idek tbh

If i had to take a wild guess it’s John Wall and a 1st round pick to open up our other picks.

Return to Miami Heat
