Does BYC hinder this trade?

Ayton has a $16 mil QO, Bridges is at $21 mil, Cam at $6 mil. That's Durants salary right there.

If Ayton is signed and traded for a higher number isn't his trade value his QO?

It’s been confirmed that BYC factors into this deal. I defer to those that want to run the numbers on what that would mean. I’m sure it depends on what offer Ayton gets on the market

Yeah it does.

Here's the explanation:

Let’s say the Suns want to sign-and-trade Deandre Ayton this offseason. He’s a Bird free agent, his new salary will be well above the minimum, and the Suns project to be an over-the-cap team. Having made $12,632,950 in 2018/19, Ayton figures to receive a raise significantly higher than 20% — if he signs a maximum salary contract, it’s projected to start at $30,500,000. So he meets the BYC criteria.

In a scenario where he signs a max deal as part of a sign-and-trade, Ayton’s salary for matching purposes from the Suns’ perspective would be $15,250,000, which is 50% of his new salary (that amount is greater than his previous salary). From his new team’s perspective, Ayton’s incoming figure would be his actual salary, $30,500,000

With that, the numbers I quoted should make it a fairly even trade with those players and picks.

So adding more players/salary is what was needed. Got it.

I guess it depends what BKN actually wants to accomplish. All defense no offense minimal shooting. What is that squad doing? Fighting for the play-in for the life of everyone’s contracts?

Tyler Herro is a bonafide 20ppg scorer on a contender at the age of 22. We don't know his ceiling, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a 25 year old Tyler Herro averaging 25, 5, and 5 on 45/40/90 shooting splits.

His ceiling is what it always was, Devin Booker with a better 3

The important thing to understand about BYC is it makes it very difficult to get a player of equal status as the player with a big salary and, more importantly, complicates matching salaries in a trade without having to give up too many players. The goal here is to avoid teams extending their rookies and turning around and trading them.

Ayton seems to be drawing 0 interest at a max contract. He is very much in same position John Collins was before he signed his deal. If Ayton comes down from his contract demands to around $25M a season, I think the market for his services would still be tight since you have frontcourt players like Capela (3-years, $60M left), Myles Turner (1-year, $18M left), and Harrison Barnes available.

Perhaps the team that would benefit the most for his services is Chicago (for Vucevic).

That's bullish :o

I still think his ceiling is CJ McCollum.

Disagree.

I think Tyler can develop braids with another full offseason. He’s shown potential.

Lighten up ladies, I’ve said multiple times Herros ceiling is CJ Mccollum. I could see him reaching the numbers CJ put up with the pelicans this last season at some point, best case.

Good offensive player, good passer, bad defender are his realities in the future.

I still think his ceiling is CJ McCollum.

He's the age of rookie Mccollum. Who didn't cross 20ppg til age 24. His progression actually lines up more with Booker given he's had 1 real offseason.

It's why I've said some fans value "potential" over actual performance. Lakers fans feel THT is a valuable piece in a star package, some Heat fans think Herro is a bum.

They'll just wait until KD is moved and whoever missed out will have an opportunity to overpay or have a bad offseason.

You all are going to have to realize one day that what certain players do at a certain age means literally nothing when comparing 2 players.

Tyler has put up better numbers at 22 than Dame, Curry, Jimmy, Wade, PG, and Kawhi. Hell never be anywhere near any of those player at their peak

Just a reminder that Herro is a big asset. We shouldn't short change what a great year he had, yes he has his flaws but he's a sick player. Wtv we do we should not over pay.

Some franchise is going to be very unhappy when he pulls something like this during a tightly contested maybe hugely important game... like this one was. He did go 5 for 23, so why wouldn't he put up this shot 1 on 4 late in the game. Do not be upset when it happens to cost Miami a huge game because he's shown he'll do this. I can live with a 5 for 23 every once in a while but not while putting up a stupid shot like this that could end up costing the team a win. His ego allows him to take big shots, that same ego has him take some ridiculous shots too.
