First of all, who cares what some random ESPN staffers are ranking, and what kind of list is this? Kawhi hasn't even played and his team won without him!

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 6.0 -Everything's Gonna Be All Wright
the future for this team......just doesn't look very good.
People can talk until their blue in the face about "(so and so star) really wants to be traded to Miami"......but the problem is the heat just have a piss poor group of assets to deal.
It's a poo poo platter. And everyone knows it. And everyone knew it last year, and it took the lillard debacle for it to crystallize though.
What more can be said about TH. It took you guys only about half a decade(j/k but close) to see that that player archetype isn't what drives a lot of value around the league. Finally you guys seem to realize that the interest in TH around the league is very very low.
Same for the rest of the guys endlessly mentioned in what the heat can 'offer for a star'.......The Jovics, Jaime's, Duncans(lol), rozier(lol) of the world. Simply not wanted. Don't move the needle. They don't even move the needle with hurricane force winds helping out. And the draft picks? Well they aren't very enticing either if you add a star to the mix(with Bam and late career Jimmy helping out)......
this idea that you are going to get even Mitchell with a year left on his deal for this poo poo platter and some low ceiling draft picks is a fantasy.
We saw how it played out last year, and before that with all the 'swings and misses' for stars. And we'll see it again this year with DM.
A player can demand to go to miami all they want, but it's got to at least be a somewhat reasonable deal. And absent Bam, the heat just don't have any pieces.
I doubt the heat will do this, but the best thing to do given how stuck they are is to trade the one piece(Bam) they have that has some value, and move jimmy too.....and just enter a tank. That gets you a chance to start over and have a spin at some high end talent in the draft shortly.
Because trying to shop the same poo platter around the league year after year gets old. Other gms probably see the miami area code come through and instantly get nausea thinking about duncan freaking robinson and TH lol.....

Why are you here? You have no players we want. Our fans aren't discussing any potential trades for any of your players. You're not in the playoffs. Haven't had a series against us in a while. You don't frequent our board. Yet here you are telling us about the assets or lack of assets on our team. Again. Why are you here?

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 6.0 -Everything's Gonna Be All Wright
What are the lessons we should take going forward?
1) STOP overpaying our own guys. Herro and Duncan should have never gotten the contracts they were given. Their limtions were clear from day 1, who the **** were we bidding against?!
2) Stop playing small. The never ending injury wave is just ridiculous. replace the medical staff and start playing much bigger so our guys aren't always grinding against bigger teams, getting worn down 82 times a year. Get back to tough heat basketball. We don't have elite talent - so at least try to be the bigger, tougher, stronger, faster team.
3.) Take risk on stars if the price is cheap. Prozingis, Beal, Harden - these guys were traded for SMALL CHANGE. We don't have great assets, and we never tank. We have to take chances on high upside talents, if the price is cheap. We can find role players off the streets, but we're lacking in star power for years now. YOU HAVE TO GO FOR IT WHEN AN ALLSTAR LEVEL PLAYER IS GETTABLE WITH OUR LIMITED ASSETS.
4.) Face reality. Bam and Herro aren't good enough to lead a team. Build accordingly going forward.

Just imagine if We traded with Wizards for Beal, Porzingis and Tyus Jones. We've gotten it done easily IMO, just offer the pick we send out for Rozier + this year's pick.
Tyus
Beal
Jimmy
Bam
Porzingis
risky move in terms of health, but it wouldn't have cost a ton of assets. The ceiling of the team wouldv'e been much higher.
Front office is really disappointing for a while now. Not creative enough, very timid, somewhat unrealistic, overpaying the wrong guys and not jumping on the right available trades.

This is a crazy casual take. Like did you just start watching ball in the last 4 years or something. History literally proves you wrong. Whenever the team has actually opened up and has assets (which we're in a way better place than when we got Jimmy) and is ready for a star it's worked out. That comes with a price. That usually involves some Spo do your thing seasons with some clowns but that's how it works. See the Lakers. The Jimmy situation was weird because we've had terrible injury luck in the playoffs. We'll actually have cap space in 2026 and you are only clowning yourself if you think we won't add quality players around Bam, Jovic, JJJr.

Yo Jovic is that kid thats never been clubbing before, dude looked so out of place wearing sweats and shoot around jacket. Dude has no semblance Miami vibe whatsoever...dude needs a wardrobe upgrade and some nights out in south beach with Herro & Jaime, them dudes came prepared for a night out in the town for sure.

I wouldn't say that, in 9 years (since LeBron left) Miami has added 1 star (Butler), drafted a star (Bam), traded for one high level player (Dragic) and the major driving force of the franchise, Pat Riley is now 79 years old. Even at the time, most people didn't consider Butler as good as he's been with Miami. So overall it's been nearly 14 years since Miami has gotten a top tier (at the time) player from outside the organization (not drafted or developed like Bam) and during the whole Butler run they've really added nobody of note, Oladipo was damaged goods and Lowry was past his prime.
