Are we okay with Jimmy winning the east again? That's gotta hurt right?

If all we get are gd expirings, yes.

If we are gonna send him to MIL with dame they better send some future picks when dame and Jimmy are in their last year and cooked or expiring like 2028

When you treadmill the regular season as much as we do, you at least put yourself in position to get lucky.

Would make it more about having expirings and optionality for the next potential star that's looking to be traded while under contract in the next couple years. Which I imagine was always the primary focus (including these Fox sweepstakes). Of course, Supermax limits that pool

Yeah the year after that, but the 2026 plan is dead. So that could lead to us doing some funny things. We can now pay Jimmy the one year he wanted because 2026 is toast, or we take Beal and assets because again 2026 is over. The excuse of 2026 no longer exist.

huh? 2026 as Greg mentioned is about optionality, keeping the books clean for anybody that could become available whether thats via trade or free agency. Nothing changes if Fox is dealt to SA and certainly there's no reason to take on Beal, no chance Jimmy is offered an extension here. That's dead.

So our slogan for 2026 is "Optionality"?
Thats what we will try to sell to fans?
We have been deliberate about not having contracts extend into 2026, for "Optionality"
We have gone from "Family", to "Culture" to now "Optionality".
Get your 2026 Optionality Heat jersey

Im saying this jokingly as a fan, but you do realize just how bad that looks and sounds right?

Those who want to are going to find any reason to complain, just like you cherry picked Fox as the “2026 plan”. So im not going to waste my time with a back and forth. After a few questionable contracts, being fiscally responsible with the cap is now viewed as bad.

I wouldn’t mind taking maple Jordan for Butler one bit

Schroeder wouldn’t be a bad guard acquisition either

If the Raptors are interested in facilitating getting Olynk back would be an amazing add to this team he’d fit perfectly. You could probably get him for a 2nd round pick. Miami needs another big who can step in and play the 4 or 5 and shoot.

How does it look bad?

The team preaches accountability....I would think it is far more likely that the locker room was starting to feel like Jimmy was "all talk". How many seasons are they suppose to go full out during the season as Jimmy loafs and supposedly saves himself for the post season. All the while taking private flights, getting separate accommodations, etc..etc.... I am sure the players liked him, he seems like a fun guy, but I doubt many in the locker room felt like the guy was in the trenches with them...

Odds are we do not know the half of it, nor how long it has been going on...

Making the cap space work for the guys who show up game in and game out is all about "family".

Only way to get Fox is either Herro /filler/Jovic or Terry/Duncan/Ware/Jovic /1st imo otherwise other teams got better deals.

Would the Heat want a big 3 of Fox/Beal or LaVine(whatever comes from the Jimmy trade) Bam with Ware and 3 picks the Suns send which they can use to get other pieces or grow the current group and hope Fox/different star come in 2026

Phoenix has 3 unprotected 1sts available?

Yes, they do.

I checked and pretty much all they have left is:

2025: least fav UTA, CLE or MIN
2027: least fav: UTA, CLE or MIN
2029: least fav: UTA, CLE or MIN

Are you thinking 2040 or something? Seriously, their next tradeable 1st that could be unprotected is 2033. Do you want to wait that long?

My understanding of Stepian rule (didnt fact check this though) is that by getting the crappy 25, 27 and 29 picks from Utah that will likely be the 25-30th picks of Cleveland who has everyone in their core under contract till 2028 at least, It actually unlocked their 26 and 28 picks. They are currently swaps with I think Washington, so they are protected in some way (cannot be 1st pick), but if Washington AND Phoenix suck, they are that valuable. Given Beal and KD's injury history and ages and the competitiveness of the West, lotto is very possible for them and Washington in those years. So there is some value there if that Stepian Rule does work like that.
