Re: Official Miami Heat Off-Season GT - Saving you from IggieCC
why is everyone here discussing all these side-grade moves that do not put us over the hump to beat the Lakers?
avery bradley, lamarcus aldridge, ibaka, none of these guys tip the scales in our favor.
we should have traded for harden. i really like Jimmy Buckets but hes not a legit first option. we need someone who can score on a superstar level CONSISTENTLY.

Sure, with old coggers like Bam, Nunn, Herro, Robinson, Okpala, and Achiuwa we're clearly ready for the nursing home...BlueHeat wrote:I dont like LMA.
Why do we always have to go for the 874849 year old dudes? Team is close to belonging in a geriatric facility.

Sure, let's trade for Harden, who only wants Brooklyn, and see how he does in a rigid culture like Miami's. That can only end well...Grumpy Heat Fan wrote:why is everyone here discussing all these side-grade moves that do not put us over the hump to beat the Lakers?

defeatist attitude.
the Heat and Spoelstra can make it work. harden wants to win and still enjoy being the centerpiece. we'd be a perfect fit.
all of these other moves are not even worth talking about if our goal is beating the lakers.

Re: Official Miami Heat Off-Season GT - Saving you from IggieCC
I'm just counting this as a victory that we haven't traded for Westbrook or Wall. There are teams that are considering these deals.
I am happy we didn't trade for Harden but agree with Grumpy that Spo can make Harden even better. Frightening really.
Would take us out of the Giannis game though.
Also, I think we are fine defensively in the front court. I'm not against getting better but if you look at our statistics last season, you will find the Bam/Leonard combination was very good defensively.

LMA isn't the perfect big for us, but he seems to be best semi-available player that can somewhat fit next to Bam and fill that hole of the second starting big.
He had a good season, ideally we'd want a younger, better defending, more 3 point shooting..but LMA is still a good player, numbers show he's not done yet.
He's a big upgrade over Leonard, let's just say that.

Harkless and Bradley are solid additions. Didn’t expect Bradley but he certainly fits a need.
Sucks to lose Jae but he got a solid deal. Again, it’s the years that’s the issue. He’s a nice fit in PHX, we had a good run JBT.
Still feel we need a big man. Not sure what we have left to work with. Does still feel like there may be a trade coming, my guess is Nunn is a goner.
There’s not enough PT in a backcourt with Gogi, Duncan, Herro, Bradley and KNunn.

I don't agree, and it certainly is not a defeatist attitude. I just happen to think it's a terrible move, in part because I think his game wouldn't mesh here, and in part because I think his attitude would absolutely destroy team chemistry here. You do remember how we got to the Finals, right?Grumpy Heat Fan wrote:BBallFreak wrote:Sure, let's trade for Harden, who only wants Brooklyn, and see how he does in a rigid culture like Miami's. We're not getting Harden. Our TEAM got to the Finals, and for good reason. Everybody chipped in and we played basketball the right way. We got big injuries at the worst possible time. We are close and have several young players on the team who will improve. We also have just acquired two quality defenders who will likely shoot career bests while they are here, as have many before them.

Re: Official Miami Heat Off-Season GT - Saving you from IggieCC
Same people who are telling me this now, are the same people who told me I am wrong for creating a thread to trade Chris Bosh after we won the title in 2013, because I said we would not be good enough to win it again the next season and Bosh is the one that needs to go. I was proven right multiple times
So boring watching the same people telling me I am wrong, you guys lack long term vision.
If you think Duncan Robinson is going to have another cinderella playoff run.... we are not reaching the Finals again next season unless we trade for Harden.
you guys over value Heat players too much. you fall in love with guys too fast.

Not sure where you got "only wants Brooklyn" from. That appears to be the current preference, but Miami was listed on teams he was interested in initially.

Oh, I'd love to snatch Millsap somehow before the Celtics sign him, but I know that's not going to happen.
Also with Harden, Tucker, Westbrook, and Wall all wanting to move, nothing is settled. I'm happy to watch from the outside, tbh.

Not advocating for Harden, but we are crowded in the backcourt with Dragic, Herro, Duncan, Bradley, and Nunn.

You left out Gabe Vincent. Duncan also plays SF, so maybe not as bad. It's good to have depth. When Dragić went down in the Finals we were pretty screwed and fortunate Nunn stepped up so well.
I'd expect Herro or Nunn to start at point guard, and Dragic in the 6th man role. Gotta preserve his body.

The idea is to get a superstar. Just not now. The FO has done a brilliant job here.
