Tucker and Morris are both 245lbs who use their bodies effectively, compare that to Ariza and Iggy (both 215lbs) who we relied on a lot at PF last year I think its a significant upgrade. They won't be guys who rack up double digit rebounds regularly they will however be able to prevent giving guys good position to get easy offensive boards consistently and will allow guys like Bam, Jimmy and even Lowry who's a good rebounder for his size get easier defensive boards.

Add to that Bam improving, a full season of Dedmond with us and what Yurtseven could possibly bring to the team I think our rebounding will be much better this season.

Sometimes guys statistical numbers don't accurately represent the impact they have on your team winning, Both Tucker and Morris have very good intangibles that will help this team win games and with the other talent on the team they don't need to fill the stat sheet if they can do everything in between.

I hope you're right.

My biggest issue is our PF rotation - I have very little faith in Tucker/Morris/KZ.

One can't score at all and undersized and old, one just was never good or consistent, and one isn't developing like we hoped.

The cure if we're lucky might be Omer stepping up as legit stretch 5 that can hit 3's and grab alot of boards while providing servicable defense with his size. Let's pray on that.

I think that starting lineup has the ability to do great things:
If you have Lowry, Robinson, Butler, Bam, Omer
You have 3 capable players of hitting the 3ball and spread the floor.
so you allow Butler and BAM to wreck the mid range & score inside just spamming the pick and roll.

Well yea, and Omer did look like healthy Porzingis out there but we've got to remember that summer league stars often don't translate to real games. Also while his offense looked promising his defense looked suspect and we don't have a lot of time to work with him on that.

I just wish we had at least 1 PF we could trust so we don't have to put all our hopes on a kid with no experience.

Theoretically 2 Centers that can shoot and defend.

DSJ with Lowry grooming him is a perfect fit.

What is the incentive to sign Dennis Smith Jr? He can't shoot free throws or 3 point shots. His midrange game is not good. He is not a great scorer at the rim. He plays terrible defense and commits way too many turnovers.

Isn't Gabe Vincent....

better? At least he can hit free throws.

"Isn't Gabe Vincent" should be enough of a reason to throw an offer at DSJ

And while he's been a substantial disappointment in the NBA so far, DSJ still manages to have a higher career 3P% than Gabe, nevermind the potential as an actual playmaking PG. Speaking of 3pt shooting, wasn't Gabe supposed to be some kind of "shooting specialist" when he landed here? Dude's a career 29.5% from deep lmao

Can we at least give him a chance to compete? You say he plays terrible defense but it looks to have been much improved this year from this recent article. Get him into our system and let’s take a chance on a talent. He displays explosive athleticism. He needs to be refined. Sort of like a DJJ at PG. Imo it’s better then wasting a roster spot on UD.

In other News, AJ Lawson defected to the Hawks Summer League team after no PT last game.

I think there will be a veteran sign at the end of preseason. They will pick up players specifically for preseason. The summer league needs to be played out so they can figure out who they want to add.

They not going into the tax. We better pray for a speedy Dipo recovery. I think we have enough left to give a prorated deal that avoids the tax towards the end of the year.

Goddamnit Haslem

We have actual needs on a contending team. Now we have to get close to the tax with his inflated minimum just so that he can sit and fight a chair

I agree with not expecting a 15th player as of now, if Miami had plans going over the tax they would have paid Nunn to stay. I'd guess Miami will be waiting on Oladipo then eyeing a trade package Herro + a contract like PJ Tucker to add another needed position.

When Haslem signs his contract, the Heat’s roster for next season will stand at 14 players on standard NBA contracts: Jimmy Butler ($36 million for next season), Bam Adebayo ($28.1 million), Kyle Lowry ($27 million), Duncan Robinson ($15.5 million), P.J. Tucker ($7 million), Tyler Herro ($4 million), KZ Okpala ($1.8 million), Markieff Morris (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Dewayne Dedmon (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Victor Oladipo (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Haslem (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Max Strus ($1.7 million), Gabe Vincent ($1.7 million) and Omer Yurtseven ($1.5 million).

The 14 players committed to the Heat for next season combine to total $131.1 million, and that number grows to $136.3 million when including Ryan Anderson’s $5.2 million waive-and-stretch cap hit.

The 2021-22 NBA salary cap is set at $112.4 million and the luxury-tax threshold is at about $136.6 million. But because the Heat is acquiring Lowry through a sign-and-trade transaction, Miami faces a $143 million hard cap.

This leaves the Heat with about $6.7 million to fill out the roster before reaching the hard-cap threshold unless other trades are completed to create additional room.

Honestly if Gabe can just hit his open three’s at a good clip he’s actually very useful player. His defense is stifling and his intensity is very high in the short bursts that he plays in. Almost reminds me of a Patrick Beverly type, but without the punchable antics.

The Haslem signing was going to happen before Garrett, Nembhard etc happens so at least this might be a sign that more moves are imminent.

6.7 and we still have the BAE right?

So that’s 3M for 1 player and then min for another
